Introduction: Mpox virus is an orthopoxvirus that causes the zoonotic infectious disease known as mpox. The disease can also spread from humans to humans. It can be transmitted through contact with bodily fluids, lesions on the skin, or internal mucosal surfaces.

Methodology: In this analytical cross-sectional epidemiological study, HCWs who were vaccinated between January 14, 2021, and March 21, 2021, were included.
We aimed to compare vaccinated and unvaccinated patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in terms of disease severity, need for intensive care unit (ICU) admission, and death. In addition, we determined the factors affecting the COVID-19 severity in vaccinated patients. Patients aged 18-65 years who were hospitalized for COVID-19 between September and December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed in three groups: unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, and fully vaccinated.

As vaccines are developed and introduced, their effect on the disease on both, the global and individual scale is a subject of intense curiosity. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between risk factors for hospitalization, disease severity, and vaccination status in COVID-19 inpatients in a pandemic hospital.

Patients with moderate and critical COVID-19 clinical manifestations were separated as Group 1 (moderate cases, = 10, treated conventionally), Group 2 (critical cases, = 10, treated conventionally), and Group 3 (critical cases, = 10, treated conventionally plus MSCs transplantation therapy of three consecutive doses on treatment days 0, 3, and 6, (as 3 × 10 cells/kg, intravenously). The treatment mechanism of action was investigated with evaluation markers of the cytokine storm, via biochemical parameters, levels of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines, analyses of tissue regeneration via the levels of growth factors, apoptosis markers, chemokines, matrix metalloproteinases, and granzyme-B, and by the assessment of the immunomodulatory effects via total oxidant/antioxidant status markers and the levels of lymphocyte subsets.

We aimed to analyse comedications and drug-drug interactions (DDIs) in antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naive PLWH in the era of integrase inhibitors.
Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted between January 2016-August 2019.
Background: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a tick-borne disease that has various symptoms. Since rapid diagnosis is crucial for survival, understanding the characteristics of patients is important for clinicians while waiting for results. This study aimed to evaluate findings that support the preliminary diagnosis of suspected CCHF in patients and take a look at the management of CCHF in Turkey.

In this study we aimed to test the knowledge of physicians regarding HIV risk groups, AIDS indicator diseases and their current practices about screening.
Methodology: A questionnaire was used to collect data from physicians working in a multidisciplinary 170-bed tertiary university hospital in Istanbul, Turkey.
Candida bloodstream infections are associated with high mortality among critically ill patients in intensive care units (ICUs). Studies that explore the risk factors for candidemia may support better patient care in intensive care units. We conducted a retrospective, multicenter case-control study to investigate the risk factors for noncatheter-related Candida bloodstream infections (CBSI) in adult ICUs.

Objective: Toxoplasmosis is a common opportunistic infection in patients with HIV/AIDS and may cause life-threatening clinical courses, such as encephalitis and pneumonia.
Methods: Patients admitted between January 2006 and August 2017 with anti-HIV positivity confirmed by Western blotting were included in the study. Demographic data, CD4+ T-lymphocyte counts, and Toxoplasma gondii IgG/IgM levels were retrospectively obtained from patient records.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the cause of systemic infection known as infectious mononucleosis with classic presentation of fever, oropharyngitis and lymphadenitis. EBV rarely causes acute hepatitis. In this report, we present a 19-year-old patient presented with nausea, fatigue and jaundice.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPrimary Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is almost always a self-limited disease characterized by sore throat, fever, and lymphadenopathy. Hepatic involvement is usually characterized by mild elevations of aminotransferases and resolves spontaneously. Although isolated gallbladder wall thickness has been reported in these patients, acute acalculous cholecystitis is an atypical presentation of primary EBV infection.

Healthcare workers (HCWs) should know how and with which symptoms can CCHF patients attend to hospitals, and be aware of nosocomial transmission capability. The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge of HCWs working in Giresun province regarding CCHF.

Background: The percentage of hospital-acquired bloodstream infections associated with Gram-negative bacilles has decreased during last decade but it is still a major cause of morbidity and mortality.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the outcome of Gram-negative rod (GNR) bacteremia, which is an important clinical problem with high mortality rates, and the risk factors for GNR related mortality in our Clinic.
Materials And Methods: During the study period, 520 episodes of bacteremia were detected in 411 patients.
