Tasquinimod promotes the sensitivity of ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin by down-regulating the HDAC4/p21 pathway.

To investigate whether Tasquinimod can influence cisplatin resistance in drug-resistant ovarian cancer (OC) cell lines by regulating histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) or p21, we explored its effects on the cell cycle, and associated mechanisms. RT-PCR and Western blot analyses, flow cytometry, CCK8 assay, and immunofluorescence were utilized to investigate the effects of Tasquinimod on gene expression, cell cycle, apoptosis, viability, and protein levels in OC cells. The results showed that Tasquinimod inhibited cell viability and promoted apoptosis in SKOV3/DDP (cisplatin) and A2780/DDP cells more effectively than DDP alone.

Does irradiation for initial primary lung cancer affect the risk of metachronous second primary lung cancer?

Several studies have reported inconsistent results about second primary lung cancer (SPLC) after irradiation for initial primary lung cancer (IPLC). The present study aims to assess the effect of ionising radiation on the risk of SPLC. The study population came from SEER database, and included a population-based cohort of 21,397 individuals diagnosed with IPLC between 2004 and 2009 who survived more than 7 years after the initial diagnosis.

MicroRNA-126 inhibits colon cancer cell proliferation and invasion by targeting the chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 4 and Ras homolog gene family, member A, signaling pathway.

MicroRNA-126 (miR-126) suppresses the migration, proliferation and invasion of colon cancer cells. However, the underlying mechanisms of miR-126 in colon cancer have not been fully elucidated. In this study, in vivo experiments revealed that miR-126 inhibits colon cancer growth and metastasis.

[Role of angiogenic T cells and EPC in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia and the relationship between angiogenic T cells and EPC].

Objectives: To investigate the role of angiogenic T cells (Tang) and endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. To explore the relationship between Tang and EPC.

Methods: From Mar 2013 to Aug 2014, 40 patients diagnosed preeclampsia (PE) and delivered in Hunan Provincial People's Hospital.

[Correlation between the myometrial thickness in the second trimester and preterm delivery in a prospective study].

Objective: To investigate the relationship between preterm delivery and anterior myometrial (MA) thickness measured by ultrasound in the second trimester.

Methods: The general information and pregnancy outcome of singleton pregnant women who had antenatal visit in the Hunan Provincial People's Hospital between Oct 2010 and Sep 2013 were collected prospectively. The MA thickness was measured at 20-27(+6) gestational weeks.
