Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the use of copy number variation sequencing (CNV-seq) to identify chromosomal abnormalities in a diverse group of 3,776 pregnant Vietnamese women who had abnormal ultrasound results.* -
  • Out of the participants, 448 women were found to have chromosomal aberrations, with 274 exhibiting chromosomal aneuploidies and 174 having pathogenic CNVs.* -
  • The findings highlight the significance of CNV-seq in improving prenatal diagnosis and understanding fetal ultrasound anomalies, reinforcing the need for diverse participant representation in such studies.*

Article Synopsis
  • Biomarker testing is now a key part of precision oncology, with comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) proving to be efficient for selecting the best treatments for patients by analyzing a larger set of genes compared to traditional methods.* -
  • The K-4CARE CGP assay was validated for its ability to accurately detect various cancer-related genetic changes using a large panel of 473 genes, showing high sensitivity and specificity across multiple cancer types.* -
  • In clinical testing, K-4CARE demonstrated strong performance in detecting circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and provided evidence of its usefulness in monitoring cancer recurrence, achieving a 79% ctDNA detection rate when tailored to specific mutations.*

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs with gene regulatory functions and are commonly dysregulated in disease states. As miRNAs are relatively stable, easily measured, and accessible from plasma or other body fluids, they are promising biomarkers for the diagnosis and prediction of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the third most common cardiovascular disease worldwide with high morbidity and mortality.

Background: Hereditary cancer syndromes (HCS) are responsible for 5-10% of cancer cases. Genetic testing to identify pathogenic variants associated with cancer predisposition has not been routinely available in Vietnam. Consequently, the prevalence and genetic landscape of HCS remain unknown.

Cassaine diterpenoids as erythrofordins A-C (1-3), pseudo-erythrosuamin (4), and erythrofordin U (5) isolated from the leaves of Vietnamese Erythrophleum fordii Oliver were tested cytotoxic activity against human leukemia cancer cells. The results showed that these metabolites exhibited dose-dependent cytotoxicity against human leukemia HL-60 and KG cells with IC values ranging from 15.2 ± 1.

is regarded as one of the most important medicinal plants in the traditional medicine system of Vietnam. However, scientific evidence for the antioxidant effects against lipid peroxidation and the potential effects in cancer of this plant are lacking. In our experiments, 70% ethanolic extracts of leaves (LPP) and stem bark (SPP) were evaluated for their low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and cytotoxic activity against cancer cell lines.

Being master regulators of gene expression, transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in determining plant growth, development and reproduction. To date, many TFs have been shown to positively mediate plant responses to environmental stresses. In the current study, the biological functions of a stress-responsive NAC [NAM (No Apical Meristem), ATAF1/2 ( Transcription Activation Factor1/2), CUC2 (Cup-shaped Cotyledon2)]-TF encoding gene isolated from soybean () in relation to plant drought tolerance and abscisic acid (ABA) responses were investigated.

In this study, we characterized the first clinical strain co- harboring and genes in Vietnam, which was recovered from a patient admitted to hospital in 2015. This strain demonstrated nonsusceptible to all tested antibiotics, including last-line antibiotics such as carbapenems (MICs ≥128 μg/mL) and colistin (MIC =32 μg/mL), except tigecycline (MIC =1 μg/mL). Whole-genome analysis using both MinION and MiSeq data revealed that the strain carried 29 resistance genes.

2',4'-Dihydroxy-6'-methoxy-3',5'-dimethylchalcone (DMC), a principal natural chalcone of buds, suppresses the growth of many types of cancer cells. However, the effects of this compound on pancreatic cancer cells have not been evaluated. In our experiments, we explored the effects of this chalcone on two human pancreatic cancer cell lines.
