Background: Metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) poses a clinical challenge and requires a combination of systemic therapy and conversion surgery. Although first-line chemotherapy and targeted therapy are considered the standard treatments for mCRC, the role of primary tumor resection (PTR) in asymptomatic synchronous mCRC with unresectable metastatic lesion after initial therapy remains relatively underexplored.

Materials: A retrospective review was conducted from January 2015 to January 2021, involving 74 patients with synchronous mCRC who received bevacizumab plus FOFIRI as first-line systemic therapy.

Organ transplantation from donors with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition involving the autoantibody-mediated destruction of platelets, is a topic of debate due to the potential for transplantation-mediated autoimmune thrombocytopenia (TMAT), a rare but potentially fatal complication. Previous reports have described transplants from deceased liver donors with ITP who had very low platelet counts and disease largely refractory to treatment. Here, we present the first case of living kidney transplantation from a donor with ITP who underwent preoperative treatment, with concurrent splenectomy performed to reduce the long-term risk of spontaneous hemorrhage.

Human interferon-induced transmembrane (IFITM) proteins inhibit the fusion of a broad spectrum of enveloped viruses, both when expressed in target cells and when present in infected cells. This interventional case series demonstrates the usefulness of anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) in guiding early postoperative management following XEN45 Gel Stent implantation, in conjunction with intraocular pressure (IOP) readings and slit lamp findings. Three primary open-angle glaucoma patients undergoing XEN45 Gel Stent implantation were included. Two patients received early postoperative needling because the IOP was not low enough and AS-OCT revealed that the XEN stent orifice was trapped by the Tenon's capsule.
