Objective: Little is known about the healthcare resource utilization (HRU) associated with different adjunctive atypical antipsychotics (AAs) for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). This analysis evaluated HRU in patients with MDD treated adjunctively with cariprazine versus other AAs.
Methods: Merative MarketScan databases were searched for claims made from 01/01/2018 to 12/31/2020 (Medicaid) or 3/31/2021 (commercial and Medicare).
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the first human cancer-causing viral pathogen to be discovered; it has been epidemiologically associated with a wide range of diseases, including cancers, autoimmunity, and hyperinflammatory disorders. Its evolutionary success is underpinned by coordinated expression of viral transcription factors (EBV nuclear antigens), signaling proteins (EBV latent membrane proteins), and noncoding RNAs, which orchestrate cell transformation, immune evasion, and dissemination. Each of those activities entails significant metabolic rewiring, which is achieved by viral subversion of key host metabolic regulators such as the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), MYC, and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF).

However, regulations have lagged behind this increased uptake in the community. This paper reviews regulations surrounding the manufacturing, import, and distribution of contact lenses in the Asia Pacific region and compares them with international regulations from the European Union and United States.

Objective: Posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) and/or transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF), referred to as "PLIF/TLIF," is a commonly performed operation for lumbar spondylolisthesis. Its long-term cost-effectiveness has not been well described. The aim of this study was to determine the 5-year cost-effectiveness of PLIF/TLIF for grade 1 degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis using prospective data collected from the multicenter Quality Outcomes Database (QOD).

Sex has been implicated as one potential modifying factor. Here, we show that female sex is a risk factor for worsened outcomes in a model of retinal degeneration.

With each added design variable, the design space quickly becomes intractable. To address this challenge, research efforts have sought to combine computational approaches with machine learning (ML)-based approaches to reduce the computational cost of the design process and accelerate mechanical design.

Although they provide many benefits to humanity, the variability in the provision of cultural ecosystem services (CES) among global PAs remains unknown. To investigate this, we combined Convolutional Neural Networks with hierarchical clustering to categorize photos from Flickr taken in PAs worldwide.

Objectives: To assess the impact of Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols on peri-operative course in adult cervical deformity (ACD) corrective surgery.
Methods: Patients ≥18 yrs with complete pre-(BL) and up to 2-year (2Y) radiographic and clinical outcome data were stratified by enrollment in an ERAS protocol that commenced in 2020.
Objective: To assess the financial impact of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols and cost-effectiveness in cervical deformity corrective surgery.
Study Design: Retrospective review of prospective CD database.
Background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) can help accelerate patient recovery and assist hospitals in maximizing the incentives of bundled payment models while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Study Design: Retrospective cohort.
Objective: To investigate the impact of evolving Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols on outcomes after cervical deformity (CD) surgery.
Background: ERAS can help accelerate patient recovery and assist hospitals in maximizing the incentives of bundled payment models while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Study Design: Retrospective single-center study.
Objective: To assess the influence of frailty on optimal outcome following ASD corrective surgery.
Summary Of Background Data: Frailty is a determining factor in outcomes after ASD surgery and may exert a ceiling effect on the best possible outcome.
Background: The utilization of vitamins and dietary supplements (DSs) among consumers in Malaysia has seen a notable increase. However, there is limited research available on how pharmacists in Eastern countries manage the provision of these products.
Objective: This study aims to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of community pharmacists in Malaysia regarding the provision of counselling services on vitamins and DSs.

Cervical disk arthroplasty has been employed with increased frequency over the past 2 decades as a motion-preserving alternative to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion in select patients with myelopathy or radiculopathy secondary to degenerative disk disease. As indications continue to expand, an understanding of cervical kinematics and materials science is helpful for optimal implant selection. Cervical disk arthroplasty implants can be classified according to the mode of articulation and df , articulation material, and endplate construction.

Inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) are a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of diseases that are one of the leading causes of vision loss in young and aged individuals. IRDs are mainly caused by a loss of the post-mitotic photoreceptor neurons of the retina, or by the degeneration of the retinal pigment epithelium. Unfortunately, once these cells are damaged, it is irreversible and leads to permanent vision impairment.

Materials And Methods: Dental records and dental radiographs of patients who received endodontic treatments between March 2020 and March 2022 by undergraduate students during the COVID-19 pandemic were included. The audit data were collected based on the European Society of Endodontology guidelines retrospectively via assessing the patient's clinical records and intraoral periapical radiograph.
Background: The modified Japanese Orthopedic Association (mJOA) score is a widely used and validated metric for assessing severity of myelopathy. Its relationship to functional and quality-of-life outcomes after surgery has not been fully described.
Objective: To quantify the association of the mJOA with the Neck Disability Index (NDI) and EuroQol-5 Dimension (EQ-5D) after surgery for degenerative cervical myelopathy.

Background: Syringomyelia has a long-established association with pediatric scoliosis, but few data exist on the relationship of syringomyelia to pediatric kyphotic deformities.
Observations: This report reviewed a unique case of rapid and sustained regression of syringomyelia in a 13-year-old girl after surgical correction of iatrogenic kyphotic deformity.
Lessons: In cases of syringomyelia associated with acquired spinal deformity, treatment of deformity to resolve an associated subarachnoid block should be considered because it may obviate the need for direct treatment of syrinx.
