Synthetic glucocorticoids (GC), such as dexamethasone, are extensively used to treat chronic inflammation and autoimmune disorders. However, long-term treatments are limited by various side effects, including muscle atrophy. GC activities are mediated by the glucocorticoid receptor (GR), that regulates target gene expression in various tissues in association with cell-specific co-regulators.

However, much work still needs to be carried out to provide a theoretical basis and technical support for the use of this method against RIFAs under field conditions. In this study, we monitored the temperature changes at different depths within RIFA nests during laboratory-simulated hot water mound drench experiments and evaluated the lethal effect of hot water treatment on RIFAs.

Using an efficient and scalable circular RNA (circRNA) platform, we constructed four circRNA vaccines that could induce robust neutralizing antibodies as well as T cell responses by expressing different surface proteins of mpox virus (MPXV), resulting in potent protection against vaccinia virus (VACV) in mice. Strikingly, the combination of the four circular RNA vaccines demonstrated the best protection against VACV challenge among all the tested vaccines.

Our study explored the utility of recombinant human type III collagen (RHC) as an intervention for endometrial damage. To address the challenges associated with the inherent instability and rapid degradation of COL III in vivo, we developed an RHC-HA hydrogel by conjugating RHC with hyaluronic acid (HA), thus ensuring a more stable and sustained delivery.

Methods: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011-2014 were used.
Seed deterioration during storage is a major problem in agricultural and forestry production and for germplasm conservation. Our previous studies have shown that a mitochondrial outer membrane protein VOLTAGE-DEPENDENT ANION CHANNEL (VDAC) is involved in programmed cell death-like viability loss during the controlled deterioration treatment (CDT) of elm (Ulmus pumila L.) seeds, but its underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Recent studies have reported that about 30% of the Mtb proteome was modified post-translationally, indicating that their functions are essential for drug resistance, mycobacterial survival, and pathogenicity. Among them, lysine acetylation, reversibly regulated by acetyltransferase and deacetylase, has important roles involved in energy metabolism, cellular adaptation, and protein interactions.

This study aimed to investigate the clinical implications of genes at the intersection of zinc metabolism and CRC.
Methods: We downloaded CRC prognosis-related genes and zinc metabolism-related genes from public databases.
The oily wastewater and heavy metal ions have been increasingly discharged into water environment, posting a serious threat to ecosystems and human health. However, it remains challenging to use single separation technology to effectively remove oil and heavy metal ions in oil-water mixtures simultaneously. Herein, novel hydrophobic/hydrophilic composites (HHC) were successfully prepared by using A4 paper-derived hydrophilic cellulose as the modified matrix, modifying the polydopamine layer and in-situ growth nanoscale zero-valent iron as active adsorption materials, combined with oleic acid-modified hydrophobic magnetic hollow carbon microspheres, which were used to efficiently and rapidly adsorb heavy metals and oil in oil-water mixtures.

The results showed that the Cd(II) binding sites of Cys and GSH were -SH (exothermic), -NH (endothermic) and -COOH (endothermic). The thermodynamic behaviour of Cd(II) binding to Cys/GSH in boric acid and HEPES buffers differed, with the former being mainly endothermic and the latter mainly exothermic.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS), as a biomarker signaling gas, is not only susceptible to food spoilage, but also plays a key function in many biological processes. In this work, an activated near infrared (NIR) HS fluorescent probe was designed and synthesized with quinoline-conjugated Rhodols dye as fluorophore skeleton and a dinitrophenyl group as the responsive moiety. Due to the quenching effect of dinitrophenyl group and the closed-loop structure of Rhodols fluorophore, probe itself has a very weak absorption and fluorescence background signal.

Heterotopic ossification (HO) comprises the abnormal formation of ectopic bone in extraskeletal soft tissue. The factors that initiate HO remain elusive. Herein, we found that calcified apoptotic vesicles (apoVs) led to increased calcification and stiffness of tendon extracellular matrix (ECM), which initiated M2 macrophage polarization and HO progression.

We aimed to investigate the associations between residential greenness and obesity phenotypes and the mediation effects of air pollutants and physical activity (PA) level on the associations.
Methods: We used the baseline of the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort (CMEC) study, which enrolled 87,613 adults.
Many experimental and computational efforts have sought to understand DNA origami folding, but the time and length scales of this process pose significant challenges. Here, we present a mesoscopic model that uses a switchable force field to capture the behavior of single- and double-stranded DNA motifs and transitions between them, allowing us to simulate the folding of DNA origami up to several kilobases in size. Brownian dynamics simulations of small structures reveal a hierarchical folding process involving zipping into a partially folded precursor followed by crystallization into the final structure.

This study sought to assess the supplementary value of tumor markers in enabling a differential diagnosis.
Methods: Data concerning tumor markers, which included carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cancer antigen 125 (CA125), cancer antigen 153 (CA153), cancer antigen 724 (CA724), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), cytokeratin19 fragment (Cyfra21-1), and squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCA), in both serum and pleural effusion samples, were retrospectively compiled from lung adenocarcinoma-associated MPE and TPE patients.
Background: Chemotherapy with anthracyclines can cause cardiotoxicity, possibly leading to stopping treatment in some cancer patients. In cardio-oncology research, preventing and minimizing anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity (AIC) is a hot issue. For the treatment of AIC, calycosin (CA), an isoflavone component in astragali radix (AR), has become a research focus.

Factors promoting CD24 expression could represent novel immunotherapeutic targets for ovarian cancer. Here, using a genome-wide CRISPR knockout screen, we identify GPAA1 (glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor attachment 1), a factor that catalyzes the attachment of a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) lipid anchor to substrate proteins, as a positive regulator of CD24 cell surface expression.
