  • The quaternion cubature Kalman filter (QCKF) is widely used for attitude determination and positioning in UAV applications, but relies on the assumption of white Gaussian noise, which is not always present in real-world data.
  • Actual GNSS/SINS-IADPS data often involves non-Gaussian noise and has constraints related to quaternion normalization, leading to potential inaccuracies in the QCKF's estimates.
  • The proposed Gaussian sum quaternion constrained cubature Kalman filter (GSQCCKF) addresses these issues by using a Gaussian mixture model for noise approximation and a two-step projection method for quaternion normalization, resulting in improved estimation accuracy under non-Gaussian noise conditions.

  • The study investigates the relationship between plasma PINK1 levels and Parkinson's disease (PD), including idiopathic PD and PD syndromes, compared to healthy individuals.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 354 participants to identify potential plasma biomarkers using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and evaluated their effectiveness with receiver-operating characteristic curves.
  • The results indicated that PINK1 and α-synuclein oligomers were significantly elevated in PD patients, suggesting that elevated plasma PINK1 could be a promising non-invasive biomarker for differentiating PD from healthy controls, although it could not distinguish between PD and PD syndromes.

Constructing wrinkles by utilizing strain-driven surface instability in film-substrate systems is a general method to prepare micronano structures, which have a wide range of applications in smart surfaces and devices such as flexible electronics, reversible wetting, friction, and optics. However, cracks generated during the preparation and use process significantly affect the uniformity of wrinkled surfaces and degrade the functional properties of the film devices. The realization of crack-free wrinkles with high stretchability in hard film systems is still a great challenge.

Background: Despite extensive work to identify diagnostic plasma markers for Parkinson's disease (PD), there are still no accepted and validated surrogate biomarkers. Mitophagy-associated proteins (MAPs), including PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1), Parkin, phosphoglycerate mutase 5 (PGAM5), BCL2 interacting protein 3 (BNIP3), and phosphorylated-TBK1 (p-TBK1), are, to our best knowledge, not well studied as a panel of biomarkers of neurodegeneration in PD.

Methods: The study population comprised 116 age-matched controls (HC), 179 PD patients, alongside and 90 PD syndromes (PDs) divided between two cohorts: (i) the modeling cohort (cohort 1), including 150 PD, 97 HC, and 80 PDs; and (ii) the validated cohort (cohort 2), including 29 PD, 19 HC, and 10 PDs.

Background: Patients with gastrointestinal tumors often suffer from poor nutritional status during treatment. Surgery is the main treatment for these patients, but the long postoperative recovery period is often accompanied by digestive and absorption dysfunction, leading to further deterioration of the nutritional status. Early enteral nutrition support is hypothesized to be helpful in improving this situation, but the exact effects have yet to be studied in depth.

Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is a mitochondrial phospholipid required for mitochondrial cristae structure and cardiolipin synthesis. PG must be remodeled to its mature form at the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) after mitochondrial biosynthesis to achieve its biological functions. Defective PG remodeling causes MEGDEL (non-alcohol fatty liver disease and 3-methylglutaconic aciduria with deafness, encephalopathy, and Leigh-like) syndrome through poorly defined mechanisms.
