The traditional Chinese medicine Atractlodis Rhizoma is the dried rhizome of the Asteraceae herbal plant Atractylodes lancea, and it has the functions of drying dampness and strengthening the spleen, removing wind and dissipating cold, and brightening the eyes. The sesquiterpenoids in A. lancea are the main ingredients of its pharmacological activities in clinical practice, including atractylone, β-eudesmol, and hinesol, which possess anti-inflammation, antibacterial, antiviral, and hepatoprotective effects.

Aims: To investigate the effect of a lingual nerve block on spontaneous pain in patients with burning mouth syndrome (BMS) and to estimate associated somatosensory abnormalities by quantitative sensory testing (QST).

Protocol And Methods: A standardised QST battery including cold detection threshold (CDT), warmth detection threshold (WDT), thermal sensory limen (TSL), paradoxical heat sensation (PHS), cold pain threshold (CPT), heat pain threshold (HPT), mechanical pain threshold (MPT), wind-up ratio (WUR) and pressure pain threshold (PPT) was performed at the oral mucosa of the most painful site and intraoral control site in 20 BMS patients, and at the tongue and cheek mucosa in 22 age- and gender-matched healthy controls. The effect of a lingual nerve block on spontaneous burning pain reported by the BMS patients on a 0-10 cm visual analogue scale (VAS) was investigated in a randomised double-blind crossover design using (1 mL) lidocaine (lido) or saline (sal) with an interval of 1 week.

Here we present electron transport across quasi-bound states of two heterogeneous quantum wells (QWs), where the transport of thermally excited electrons is blocked or enabled depending on the relative positions of the two quasi-bound states, with an abrupt current onset occurring when the two QW states align. The QW switch comprises a source (Cr), QW1 (CrO), QW2 (SnO, < 2), a tunneling barrier (SiO), and a drain (Si), where the effective electron mass of QW1 (*) is selected to be larger than QW2 (*).

Phase heterogeneity of bromine-iodine (Br-I) mixed wide-bandgap (WBG) perovskites has detrimental effects on solar cell performance and stability. Here, we report a heterointerface anchoring strategy to homogenize the Br-I distribution and mitigate the segregation of Br-rich WBG-perovskite phases. We find that methoxy-substituted phenyl ethylammonium (-MeOPEA) ligands not only contribute to the crystal growth with vertical orientation but also promote halide homogenization and defect passivation near the buried perovskite/hole transport layer (HTL) interface as well as reduce trap-mediated recombination.
