Background: larval meal (ZLM) is a high-quality feed supplement with potential activities that can improve fish growth performance and promote meat quality. However, there have been limited recent studies investigating the metabolic effects of ZLM. Therefore, this study aims to uncover the metabolomic mechanism through which ZLM improves tilapia meat flavor using metabolomic strategies.

In this study, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence spectroscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, and fluorescence microscopy were used to evaluate the impact of Maillard reaction products (MRPs) formed from glucose and lysine on the oxidative stability of carp Mb. MRPs were found to inhibit the auto-oxidation of Mb, reducing MetMb production by 8.

Objective: To investigate the longitudinal associations between PR and its changes (ΔPR) with frailty progression among older adults.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Data were collected from a community-based prospective cohort study conducted in Shanghai from 2020 to 2023.
Background And Aims: Patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) tend to have low resting and exercise heart rates. Phosphodiesterase-3 (PDE-3) inhibitors improve heart rates, haemodynamics and symptoms in patients with HFpEF. Cilostazol is an oral PDE-3 inhibitor used in peripheral artery disease.

This study aimed to describe practice variations in triglyceride-lowering therapies for early HTG-AP patients and assess whether more rapid triglyceride decline is associated with improving organ failure.
Methods: This is a multicentre, prospective cohort study recruiting HTG-AP patients with elevated plasma triglyceride (> 11.

Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA) is a special type of lung adenocarcinoma that accounts for 2% to 10% of all lung adenocarcinoma. Surgical treatment is preferred for IMA, and traditional chemotherapy drugs and targeted therapy drugs have poor efficacy in this disease. IMA has unique prognostic, imaging and molecular features.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFV-domain immunoglobulin suppressor of T cell activation (VISTA) has emerged as a crucial player in the pathogenesis of neurological disorders. However, the specific mechanism by which VISTA regulates microglial activation remains unclear. Septic mice were intracerebroventricularly injected with an agonistic anti-VISTA antibody or isotype control.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of all patients admitted within 72 h after the first episode of ANP to a tertiary center between June 2015 and June 2019 was conducted. Automatic image analysis software was used to calculate the area of subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT), visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and skeletal muscle from computed tomography scans at the umbilical level.
Background: A stent with characteristics of a hybrid design may have advantages in improving the patency of symptomatic iliofemoral vein obstruction. This study assessed the safety and effectiveness of the V-Mixtent Venous Stent in treating symptomatic iliofemoral outflow obstruction.
Methods: Eligible patients had a Clinical-Etiologic-Anatomic-Physiologic (CEAP) C classification of ≥ 3 or a Venous Clinical Severity Score (VCSS) pain score of ≥ 2.
Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has a poor prognosis. Transvascular intervention is an important approach for treating NSCLC. Drug-eluting bead bronchial artery chemoembolisation (DEB-BACE) is a technique of using DEBs loaded with chemotherapeutic drugs for BACE.

Magnetic Induction Tomography (MIT) is a non-invasive imaging technique used for dynamic monitoring and early screening of cerebral hemorrhage. Currently, there is a significant challenge in cerebral hemorrhage MIT due to weak detection signals, which seriously affects the accuracy of the detection results. To address this issue, a dual-plane enhanced coil was proposed by combining the target field method with consideration of the spatial magnetic field attenuation pattern within the imaging target region.

This tool was developed to facilitate the identification of frail individuals in constrained settings, addressing the challenges posed by uncertain cutoffs of FFP indicators in prompt frailty assessment.
Design: A longitudinal study and a cross-sectional study.
Deep learning models struggle to effectively capture data features and make accurate predictions because of the strong non-linear characteristics of arbitrage data. Therefore, to fully exploit the model performance, researchers have focused on network structure and hyperparameter selection using various swarm intelligence algorithms for optimization. Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA), a classic heuristic method that simulates the sparrows' foraging and anti-predatory behavior, has demonstrated excellent performance in various optimization problems.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFHuman extrachromosomal circular DNA, or eccDNA, has been the topic of extensive investigation in the last decade due to its prominent regulatory role in the development of disorders including cancer. With the rapid advancement of experimental, sequencing and computational technology, millions of eccDNA records are now accessible. Unfortunately, the literature and databases only provide snippets of this information, preventing us from fully understanding eccDNAs.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAquaculture pond sediments have a notable influence on the ecosystem balance and farmed animal health. In this study, microalgal-bacterial immobilization (MBI) was designed to improve aquaculture pond sediments via synergistic interactions. The physicochemical characteristics, bacterial communities, and the removal efficiencies of emerging pollutants were systematically investigated.

The secondary objective is to assess the diagnostic model performance for hard nuclear cataract.
Methods: This study included 70 eyes of 57 adults with cataract, with 49 (70%) and 21 (30%) in training and validation cohort, respectively.
Objective: To compare the effect of balanced multielectrolyte solutions (BMESs) versus normal saline (NS) for intravenous fluid on chloride levels and clinical outcomes in patients with predicted severe acute pancreatitis (pSAP).
Background: Isotonic crystalloids are recommended for initial fluid therapy in acute pancreatitis, but whether the use of BMES in preference to NS confers clinical benefits is unknown.
Methods: In this multicenter, stepped-wedge, cluster-randomized trial, we enrolled patients with pSAP (acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II score ≥8 and C-reactive protein >150 mg/L) admitted within 72 hours of the advent of symptoms.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of postoperative Creatine Kinase type M and B (CK-MB) to total Creatine Kinase (CK) ratio (CK-MB/CK) in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients after radical resection.
Methods: This was a single-center retrospective cohort analysis. Subjects were stage I-III CRC patients hospitalized in Sichuan Cancer Hospital from January 2017 to May 2021.
Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) that endows cancer cells with increased invasive and migratory capacity enables cancer dissemination and metastasis. This process is tightly associated with metabolic reprogramming acquired for rewiring cell status and signaling pathways for survival in dietary insufficiency conditions. However, it remains largely unclear how transcription factor (TF)-mediated transcriptional programs are modulated during the EMT process.

Understanding the characteristics of the gut microbiota in the acute phase of burns and their association with phenotype can help to accurately assess the progression of the disease and identify potential microbiota markers.
Methods: We established mouse models of partial thickness deep III degree burns and collected faecal samples for 16 S rRNA amplification and high throughput sequencing at two time points in the acute phase for independent bioinformatic analysis.
Background: Plasmapheresis is widely used for severe hypertriglyceridemia-associated acute pancreatitis (HTG-AP) to remove excessive triglycerides from plasma. This study aimed to evaluate whether plasmapheresis could improve the duration of organ failure in HTG-AP patients.
Methods: We analyzed a cohort of patients from a multicenter, prospective, long-running registry (the PERFORM) collecting HTG-AP patients admitted to the study sites within 72 h from the onset of symptoms.
