The learning survival neural network (DeepSurv) was developed to showed a better performance than cox proportional hazards model in prediction of OS. This study aimed to develop a deep learning-based prediction model to predict individual OS.

A Longitudinal Study of AFP Trajectories and Clinical Outcomes in Intermediate-Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma After Hepatectomy.

Background: Previous studies have shown that the alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) response has been a key tumour marker in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but its definition remains controversial. Recently, a new study has explored and defined the AFP serological response and used it to explain the subclass of intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (IM-HCC) with "sharp-falling" AFP change after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). It may be a new and simple tool for assessing the prognosis of patients.

Methods: The effects of ZD6474 on cell proliferation or migration in TGF-β1-stimulated HTFs and HUVECs were determined, using CCK8 or wound healing assay, respectively. The typical markers of fibrosis in TGF-β1-stimuated HTFs were detected, vimentin by immunofluorescence, α-SMA and snail by western blot.

To explore the role of atorvastatin in regulating intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma , and to investigate its related molecular pathway , an ocular hypertension model was generated by intravitreal injection of an adenoviral vector encoding transforming growth factor (TGF)‑β2 in the right eye of BALB/cJ mice, while the left was treated with an empty control adenovirus. To determine its anti‑intraocular hypertension role, these induced hyper‑IOP mice were gavaged with atorvastatin (20 mg/kg/day). Furthermore, extracellular matrix (ECM) factors were examined in the primary human trabecular meshwork (HTM) cells followed atorvastatin (0~200 µM) treatment .
