Objective: In China, it is expected that every one in three people will be aged 60 years and above in 2040, surpassing other low- and middle-income countries. The noncommunicable disease (NCD) burden and trends among elderly people must be clarified.
Methods: In this trend analysis based on the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2021, we reported NCDs per 100,000 people and average annual percentage changes (AAPCs) in disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), mortality, and incidence at three levels of the GBD 2021 hierarchy by age subgroups and by sex in the older population aged 60 years and above in China during 1990-2021.

Aims: To understanding the net regional, national, and economic effect of global population ageing on diabetes and its trends during 1990 and 2019 worldwide.
Methods: We employed a decomposition method to estimate the impact of population ageing on diabetes-related disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) and total deaths in 204 countries from 1990 to 2019 at the global, regional, and national level. This method separated the net effect of population ageing from population growth and changes in mortality.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) suppressive therapy on bone mineral density (BMD) and bone turnover markers (BTMs) in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients after postoperative 1-2 years in Northeast China.
Methods: Five male, sixteen premenopausal, and eight postmenopausal female DTC patients receiving TSH suppressive therapy after thyroidectomy were enrolled. Patients were matched with healthy controls in a ratio of 1:2.

Design And Methods: This was a longitudinal survey assessing MetS status among 750 urban community residents in China.
Background: Some studies have reported that chronic kidney disease (CKD) or the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is significantly associated with metabolic abnormalities.
Methods: Six hundred forty-six community residents aged 45-60 years without overt renal dysfunction were recruited in this cross-sectional study. eGFR was estimated by serum creatinine measurement.
Background: Type 2 deiodinase (Dio2) is a selenoenzyme that is mainly expressed in the endoplasmic reticulum of the central nervous system, brown adipose tissue, and placenta and is responsible for outer ring deiodination of thyroxine (T4) to form biologically active triiodothyronine (T3). The Thr92Ala polymorphism of Dio2 has been found to be a potential risk factor for various diseases beyond the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis.
Methods: We searched the relevant studies in the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases and Google Scholar.
Background: Previous studies have shown increases in the prevalence of obesity and hypertension, but nationally representative data on recent changes in prevalence adjusted for population structure changes are lacking. Aim: The aim of the study was to explore the prevalence of food addiction (FA) in individuals with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in China and to analyze risk factors of FA.
Methods: A total of 624 subjects [312 individuals with newly diagnosed T2DM, 312 age-matched and body mass index (BMI)-matched healthy participants] were recruited. All participants were asked to complete the Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS) and received physical and lab examinations.
As a newly emerging metabolic regulator, accumulating evidence suggests that the circulating fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19) level correlated with lipid and glucose metabolism. Several independent groups have found that FGF19 was highly likely associated with multiple metabolic disorders. Thyroid dysfunction is believed to be associated with metabolism diseases.
