Background: The E3 ubiquitin ligase murine double minute 2 (MDM2) binds the p53 transcriptional activation domain and acts as a potent inhibitor of pathway, one of the three most crucial oncogenic pathways in urothelial carcinoma (UC). However, the clinical significance and impact on tumor immune contexture of amplification in UC remain unclear.

Methods: This study analyzed 240 patients with UC with matched clinical annotations from two local cohorts (ZSHS cohort and FUSCC cohort).

Solid-state fermentation is known to improve plant-based feed nutritional quality; however, the association between microbes and metabolite production in fermented feed remains unclear. We inoculated corn-soybean-wheat bran (CSW) meal feed with Y5-39, B-1, and lactic acid bacteria RSG-1. Then, 16S rDNA sequencing and untargeted metabolomic profiling were applied to investigate changes in the microflora and metabolites, respectively, and their integrated correlations during fermentation were assessed.

Article Synopsis
  • Xiaoaiping injection, derived from the root of Marsdenia tenacissima, is a traditional Chinese medicine widely used in China for treating malignant tumors and enhancing the effects of chemotherapeutics like paclitaxel.
  • The study aimed to examine how Xiaoaiping injection works together with paclitaxel to inhibit ovarian cancer, focusing on the role of the pregnane X receptor (PXR) in regulating various molecules involved in this process.
  • Results indicated that Xiaoaiping injection improved the anti-cancer effects of paclitaxel by reducing the expression of PXR and its associated proteins, leading to increased cell death and decreased tumor growth in an animal model.

Chemotherapy is an effective treatment for invasive breast cancer. Paradoxically, many recently published findings showed that the first-line chemotherapeutic agent paclitaxel (PTX) showed pro-metastatic effects in the progress of treating breast cancer. Xiao-Ai-Ping (XAP) injection, composed of a traditional herbal medicine, extract, is known to exert antitumor effects on various cancers.
