Background: Information and education are recommended for patients with inflammatory arthritis including spondyloarthritis (SpA). However, there is no Turkish instrument available to measure the knowledge level of patients with SpA. The study aimed to translate the Spondyloarthritis Knowledge Questionnaire (SPAKE) into Turkish and investigate its validity and reliability.

Tofacitinib is a targeted JAK inhibitor used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Despite some recent safety concerns, it is considered effective and safe with appropriate patient selection. Between May 2015 and May 2024, data were retrospectively analyzed from 112 patients with a diagnosis of RA in a tertiary care hospital who had received tofacitinib for at least 1 month, with or without prior biologic DMARDs.

: Secukinumab is a monoclonal antibody against interleukin 17 approved for patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and psoriasis. Treating axSpA and PsA patients with a history of malignancy is a challenge. While initial results on the applicability of secukinumab in this patient group are positive, the number of studies on this topic remains limited.

Background/objectives: Our aim was to validate the performance of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR)/European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) classification criteria for antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), published in 2023, in an APS cohort.

Methods: A total of 193 patients, 83 with APS (secondary APS, = 45; primary APS, = 38) and 110 without APS (systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), = 100; others, = 10), were included in this study. The performance (sensitivity, specificity and area under the curve (AUC)) of the 2023 ACR/EULAR classification criteria for APS was evaluated and the agreement with the revised Sapporo criteria was compared using the kappa test.

  • Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is a hereditary illness that causes fever, stomach pain, and joint swelling, and colchicine is the main treatment but doesn’t cure it.
  • In a study, they looked at blood samples from 50 people, including healthy individuals and those with active or inactive FMF, to measure certain markers tied to the disease.
  • The results showed that some markers were higher in patients having FMF attacks compared to healthy people and those in remission, suggesting these markers could help in finding new ways to diagnose and treat FMF.

  • The study evaluates the effectiveness and safety of baricitinib, an oral DMARD, in treating patients with difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis (D2T RA) compared to those without it.
  • A total of 78 patients were analyzed, revealing that both D2T RA and non-D2T RA groups showed significant improvement in disease activity and scores after 12 months of treatment, though infection was the most common side effect.
  • The findings suggest that baricitinib is a viable treatment option for D2T RA, with safety and efficacy profiles that are comparable to patients without this classification.

  • Inflammatory low back pain (IBP) is commonly associated with spondylarthritis (SpA) but can also be a symptom of various malignancies, both hematologic and solid tumors.
  • A study analyzed 34 patients diagnosed with malignancy-related IBP over the past decade, comparing their clinical features to a control group of patients with axial SpA.
  • Findings revealed that malignancy-related IBP patients had higher levels of inflammatory markers and a similar ratio of hematologic to solid tumors, suggesting that malignancies should be considered in differential diagnoses of IBP.

Patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) who receive immunosuppressive therapy are at risk of infection due to impaired immune function and immunosuppressive medication. Vaccination plays a crucial role in preventing infections in this population. However, vaccination rates and factors influencing vaccination uptake in axSpA patients still need to be adequately studied.

Background/aim: Adipose tissue produces several inflammatory mediators. Thus, obesity affects the disease course and the responses to the antirheumatic agents in inflammatory diseases. The aim of the study was to determine whether the body mass index (BMI) is involved in the response to rituximab in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is characterized by recurrent episodes of fever and serositis. Blood-based biomarkers determined in FMF patients during attack-free periods could be used to predict the risk of amyloidosis and the severity of the disease. The recently defined pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) comprises four distinct subsets of blood cells and serves as an easily accessible and cost-effective marker.

  • This study evaluated the presence of hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and spondyloarthritis (SpA) undergoing biological treatments, using data from a registry in Türkiye.
  • The findings revealed high screening rates for HBV (97% in RA and 94.2% in SpA), with varying rates of positive test results for HBV and HCV; older patients with comorbidities were more likely to test positive for HBV.
  • The most commonly prescribed biologic treatments included adalimumab and etanercept, with one reported case of HBV reactivation in a patient treated with rituximab and preventative medicine.

  • The study evaluated the accuracy and completeness of responses from three Large Language Models (LLMs) - ChatGPT (3.5 and 4), BARD, and Bing - regarding Methotrexate (MTX) treatment questions for rheumatoid arthritis using a set of 23 queries.
  • ChatGPT models performed exceptionally well, achieving a 100% correct answer rate for accuracy, while BARD and Bing achieved lower scores of 73.91% and faced significant inaccuracies and non-responses, particularly in the "side effects" and "mechanism of action" categories.
  • Despite the overall success of the ChatGPT models, the study highlighted that there are still inaccuracies and shortcomings in

  • The study analyzed the demographic and clinical characteristics of 488 patients with Behçet's disease (BD) to explore how these traits relate to the use of biological agents.
  • Key findings indicate that the most frequent initial symptoms included oral and genital ulcers, with males more likely to present with papulopustular lesions and vascular issues, while females had more genital ulcers.
  • The use of biological agents was notably higher among younger patients, males, and those with ocular involvement, suggesting that these factors influence treatment decisions.
