The present study was performed to evaluate the effects of calcium phosphate cement (alpha-DT cement) containing alpha-TCP, dicalcium phosphate anhydrous, and tetracalcium phosphate mixed with hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) for bone augmentation within a titanium cap in the rabbit calvarium. A total of 24 male adult Japanese white rabbits were used in this study. In each rabbit, one side of the cap was filled with alpha-DT cement (alpha-DT) or alpha-DT cement mixed with HPC (alpha-DTH), and the other side of the cap was left empty (control).

Previously, numerous three-dimensional finite element (FE) models of the dentoalveolar complex have been developed and stress analyses of orthodontic tooth movements were reported. Most of the models were, however, developed based on average anatomical data, but not on individual data. The aim of this study, therefore, was to investigate dentoalveolar stress distribution by lingual and distal tipping tooth movements using FE models of individual teeth based on the limited cone beam CT (3DX) images.

Objective: This study evaluated new bone regeneration beyond the skeletal envelope within an occlusive titanium cap on rabbit calvaria using microfocus computed tomography images.

Methods: In 10 rabbits, the calvaria was exposed and a circular groove was prepared. After penetrating the marrow, a standard hemispherical titanium cap was placed in the groove and covered with a cutaneous flap.
