Previous reports have shown that a low attenuated area(LAA)in chest CT reflects the prognosis or therapeutic outcomes for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). COPD has been reported as one of the important predictive factors for postoperative pulmonary complications(PPCs). In this retrospective study, we analyzed 100 patients who underwent surgery for gastric or colorectal cancer between January 2020 and August 2022, and investigated the impact of the LAA volume ratio(LAAv%)on short term surgical outcomes.

Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), acting through the c‑Met receptor, plays an important role in solid tumors. Various malignant cells utilize the biological actions of the HGF/c‑Met pathway for their dissociative, invasive and metastatic behaviors. HGF also binds to the receptor expressed on endothelial cells that stimulates angiogenesis, a process critical to continued growth of solid tumors.
