Site-selective cleavage of the peptide backbone in proteins is an important class of post-translational modification (PTM) in nature. However, the organic chemistry for such site-selective peptide bond cleavages has yet to be fully explored. Herein, we report cysteine -formylation as a means of selective protein backbone cleavage.

However, whether HFPO-DA is a safer alternative to PFOA in neonates remains unclear. In this study, we evaluated neonatal hepatic toxicity on postnatal days 9-10 by orally exposing pregnant CD-1 mice to 0.

Purpose: Although intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) is critical in spine surgery, its usage is largely based on the surgeon's discretion, and studies on its usage trends in Asia-Pacific countries are lacking. This study aimed to examine current trends in IONM usage in Asia-Pacific countries.
In the veterinary field, the utility of disease-identification models that use comprehensive circulating microRNA (miRNA) profiles produced through measurements based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) remains unproven. To integrate NGS technology with automated machine learning (autoML) to create a comprehensive circulating miRNA profile and to assess the clinical utility of a disease-screening model derived from this profile. The study involved dogs diagnosed with or being treated for various diseases, including tumors, across multiple veterinary clinics ( = 254), and healthy dogs without apparent diseases ( = 91).

Calf circumference (CC), a representative anthropometric marker of skeletal muscle mass, is now recommended to adjustment based on body mass index (BMI). This study aimed to evaluate the validity and efficacy of BMI-adjusted CC in very older adults, compared with other methods of assessing muscle mass.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 149 patients over 80 years who underwent gastrectomies between January 2000 and December 2020. The patients were divided into two groups based on the intervention of the dysphagia rehabilitation team (DRT group: n = 101) and the non-intervention control group (C group: n = 48).
Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is widely used as a plasticizer in polyvinyl chloride products. DEHP exposure in humans is of great concern due to its endocrine-disrupting properties. In this study, we characterized the agonistic activities of DEHP and its five metabolites, mono-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (MEHP), 5OH-MEHP, 5oxo-MEHP, 5cx-MEPP and 2cx-MMHP against human nuclear receptors, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα), pregnane X receptor (PXR), and constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) using transactivation assays.

The aim of the present study was to elucidate the histopathological characteristics and pathogenesis of "cysts-LF". Herein, we defined cysts-LF as spinal cysts containing degenerative LF components.

We developed and evaluated the accuracy of a rapid (20 s) and easy-to-use tool called ONSEI, assessing the cognitive decline equivalent to dementia in actual clinical practice by correlating clinical diagnoses with the ONSEI classification. Methods In this retrospective observational study, data were collected from individuals who visited three neurosurgical clinics in neighboring prefectures of Tokyo, Japan.

The study cohort of 567 eligible patients with esophageal cancer had undergone subtotal esophagectomy from 2003 to 2020. LN metastasis was defined as pathologically proven metastasis or positron emission tomography-positive LNs.

Here, we investigated the mechanism underlying the modification of T cell function by C-KJ components. The water-soluble extract of C-KJ was fractionated into protein (P) and sugar (S) fractions acidic (AS), basic (BS), and neutral (NS).

We investigated the utility of the tumor response after a first course of NAC-DCF as a post-surgery survival predictor in patients with EC.
Methods: We enrolled 150 consecutive patients who underwent NAC-DCF followed by surgery for EC between September 2009 and January 2019.

Based on these characteristics, progesterone is considered a candidate anticancer drug. However, the concentration of progesterone used for therapy should be higher than the physiological concentration, which makes it difficult to develop progesterone-based anticancer drugs.

Japanese residents of a metropolitan area, 20 to 50 years of age, were studied in terms of anthropometric and biochemical parameters, including circulating trans fat and serum phospholipid fatty acid levels. Processed foods, except drinks and dairy items, were categorized according to requirements for additional ingredients and cooking before eating.

Mg-ion-implanted layers in a GaN substrate after annealing were investigated. Implanted Mg atoms precipitated along the edges of crystal defects were observed using 3D-APT. The breakdown characteristics of a GaN double-diffused vertical MISFET (DMISFET) fabricated via triple ion implantation are presented.

However, even using IGS to perform a full-thickness resection of SMTs that are in or extremely close to the EGJ is very difficult to do safely and avoid disrupting or causing stenosis of the EGJ, without advanced experience. This study retrospectively examined the usefulness of l-IGS for gastric SMTs located in or extremely close to the EGJ.

Objective: To investigate the validity of transcranial motor-evoked potentials (Tc-MEP) in thoracic spine surgery and evaluate the impact of specific factors associated with positive predictive value (PPV).
Methods: One thousand hundred and fifty-six cases of thoracic spine surgeries were examined by comparing patient backgrounds, disease type, preoperative motor status, and Tc-MEP alert timing.
Purpose: Gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis (PM) are generally treated with systemic chemotherapy. When PM has disappeared because of chemotherapy, radical gastrectomy (so-called conversion surgery) is usually performed. We have previously reported the efficacy of conversion surgery, but there are no reports examining the efficacy of palliative gastrectomy for patients with residual PM after chemotherapy.
