Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of shoulder ultrasonography (US) in diagnosing shoulder pathologies, particularly rotator cuff tears, compared to MRI findings.
  • Results show that US has high sensitivity (86%) and specificity (82%) for full-thickness supraspinatus tears, but significantly lower for partial-thickness tears (38% sensitivity).
  • The analysis included 86 patients from a tertiary care center, with US proving reliable for full-thickness tears but less accurate for partial-thickness, demonstrating the need for careful interpretation in clinical practice.
