In-hospital cardiac arrest in middle-income settings: A comprehensive analysis of clinical profiles and outcomes of both adults and pediatrics.

Background: In hospital cardiac arrest is associated with poor survival despite basic and advanced life support measures. This study aimed to identify the clinical characteristics and outcomes of cardiac arrests occurring during in-hospital admission to the tertiary care center in Pakistan.

Method: A retrospective, cross-sectional study at Aga Khan University Hospital from 2021 to 2023 analyzed 230 cardiac arrest cases.

Background: The healthcare system is highly complex, and adverse events often result from a combination of human factors and system failures, especially in crisis situations. Crisis resource management skills are crucial to optimize team performance and patient outcomes in such situations. Simulation-based training offers a promising approach to developing such skills in a controlled and realistic environment.

Safety huddles in paediatric intensive care unit: Implementation and staff perception in a resource limited setting.

Objective: To evaluate the perception, knowledge, empowerment and comfort level of critical care staff in relation to the implementation of safety huddles in paediatric intensive care unit of a tertiary care hospital.

Methods: The descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, from September 2020 to February 2021, and comprised physicians, nurses and paramedics who were part of the safety huddle. Staff perception regarding this activity was evaluated using open-ended questions that were scored on a Likert scale.
