The nuclear accident created great apprehension among residents of the Fukushima Prefecture, where the FDNPP is located, and residents of Northeastern Japan outside of Fukushima, such as the south region of the Miyagi Prefecture, which is adjacent to the northern part of Fukushima Prefecture. The Miyagi Prefecture is located approximately 50 to 120 km from the FDNPP.

Genetically modified pigs missing specific organs are key elements in this strategy.
