Isolated liver metastasis from prostate cancer is exceedingly rare. Prostate-specific membrane antigen-positron emission tomography/computed tomography has become the one-stop shop imaging in prostate cancer, but the uptake is a relatively nonspecific tracer and its expression can be seen in a plethora of nonprostatic solid tumors. We report one such example of an oligometastatic prostate cancer who presented with an isolated liver lesion which turned out to be an incidental hepatocellular carcinoma, thus representing a potentially unique diagnostic challenge.

Adamantinoma-like Ewing's sarcoma (ALES) is a rare variant of Ewing sarcoma that is defined by complex epithelial differentiation, including expression of cytokeratin and p40 and frequent keratin pearl formation, having characteristic EWSR1-FLI1 translocation, typically observed in the head and neck region of middle-aged individuals. We present the first reported case of a 22-year-old female with ALES arising in the pancreatic neck, sharing similarities with its head and neck counterpart in the form of morphological, immunohistochemical, and high grade histological features. The case highlights diagnostic challenges and expands the understanding of ALES in uncommon anatomical locations.

Background: The introduction of positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has significantly advanced medical imaging. In oncology, F-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) PET/CT is particularly crucial for staging, evaluating treatment response, monitoring follow-up, and planning radiotherapy. However, in resource limiting hospitals, the availability of fluorine-labeled F-FDG limits optimal scan acquisition.

Background: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has shown to be a promising agent for prostate cancer imaging under PET-CT. With the automation in radiolabeling with 68Ga, using iTG 68Ge/68Ga generator, it has helped introduce various new diagnostic agents and achieve good manufacturing practices (GMP) simultaneously. However, before any radiopharmaceutical is put into clinical usage, it should always be checked for its radiochemical purity and other quality parameters before injecting in the patient.

Purpose: The clinico-radiological dilemma in post-treatment high-grade gliomas, between disease recurrence (TR) and treatment-related changes (TRC), still persists. FET (Fluoro-ethyl-tyrosine) PET has been extensively used as problem-solving modality for cases where MR imaging is inconclusive. We incorporated a systematic imaging and clinical follow-up algorithm in a multi-disciplinary clinic (MDC) setting to analyse our cohort of FET PET in post-treatment gliomas.

Our recent studies indicated that amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients suffer from significantly elevated levels of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) secretion by natural killer (NK) and CD8+ T cells, which may be responsible for the immune-pathologies seen in central nervous system and in peripheral organs of the patients. In order to counter such elevated induction of IFN-γ in patients we designed a treatment strategy to increase anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10) by the use of probiotic strains which significantly increase the levels of IL-10. Therefore, in this paper we demonstrate disease specific functions of Al-Pro (AJ3) formulated for the adjunct treatment of auto-immune diseases including ALS, and compared the function with CA/I-Pro (AJ4) for the treatment of cancer and viral diseases, and NK-CLK (AJ2) for maintenance of immune balance and promotion of disease prevention.

Introduction: Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has limitations in differentiating tumor recurrence (TR) from radionecrosis (RN) in high-grade gliomas (HGG), which can present with morphologically similar appearances. Multiparametric advanced MR sequences and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) with amino acid tracers can aid in diagnosing tumor metabolism. The role of both modalities on an individual basis and combined performances were investigated in the current study.

Health and livelihood impacts from ambient air pollution among populations in developing countries are disproportional. These disparities are often overlooked due to a lack of information on microlevel emission data, especially in smaller cities and rural areas. The current work in an Indian district, Saharanpur, proposes the use of novel data sets to estimate microlevel emissions from air-polluting infrastructure sectors in urban and rural areas for use in pollutant transport models.

One of the most unique and impressive feats of the human mind is its ability to discover and continuously refine its own cognitive strategies. Elucidating the underlying learning and adaptation mechanisms is very difficult because changes in cognitive strategies are not directly observable. One important domain in which strategies and mechanisms are studied is planning.

Air quality deterioration due to vehicular emissions in smaller Indian cities and rural areas remains unacknowledged, even though the situation is alarmingly similar to megacities. The resulting lack of knowledge on travel behavior and vehicle characteristics impacts accuracy of emission studies in these regions. This study uses a novel approach and appropriate primary and secondary data sets to allocate vehicular activities (vehicle population and vehicle kilometer travelled) and associated emissions at a high spatial resolution for estimation and dispersion analysis of vehicular exhaust and non-exhaust PM emission in an Indian urban-rural landscape.

This pictorial essay depicts normal appearances, complications and residual or recurrent disease on fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT) studies in the postsurgical and postprocedural setting, other than head and neck malignancy. Reading and reporting FDG PET/CT in this scenario is daunting due to the multiple confounding false positives seen during this period. This article which is the second part in this series will familiarize the readers with the normal appearance and pitfalls seen in FDG PET/CT studies in thoracic and abdominopelvic malignancies during the postoperative and postprocedural period so as to avoid misinterpretations.

Article Synopsis
  • Higher-grade glial neoplasms often require surgery, radiotherapy, and alkylating agents, but distinguishing between disease recurrence and treatment-related changes can be challenging after treatment.
  • This study analyzed 72 patients using FET PET imaging to establish a cutoff for differentiating true recurrence from post-treatment changes, finding a T/Wm ratio of 2.65 to be effective.
  • Results showed 57% had recurrent disease, while 43% displayed post-treatment changes, confirming that static FET PET is a valuable tool for assessing brain glioma conditions when MR imaging is inconclusive.
