Purpose: Defining normative aortic echocardiographic values in each geographical district is crucial as aortic valve area (AVA) may vary across races, genders, and ages. Notably, variations in normal values can have implications for clinical decision-making, and available data on the Middle East population is also scarce. We sought to establish normal ranges for aortic valve echocardiographic parameters in the Iranian population and assess the effect of age, gender, weight, height, BMI, BSA, and blood pressure on them.

  • This study evaluates four non-laboratory risk-score models for detecting undiagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among the population surrounding Tehran University of Medical Sciences, aiming to provide crucial data for healthcare initiatives.
  • The AUSDRISK model outperformed the others in identifying diabetes risk, demonstrating a strong ability to discriminate and calibrate estimates accurately, aligning closely with observed prevalence rates from previous surveys.
  • Ultimately, the research estimates that about 4.18% of the population is undiagnosed and 11.1% have T2DM, highlighting the importance of these models in addressing diabetes detection in the region.

  • Ignoring outliers can lead to misleading results when analyzing Length of Stay (LOS) data, which often has a high number of outliers.
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness of Zero-Inflated Poisson (ZIP) and robust Zero-Inflated Poisson (RZIP) models in addressing challenges associated with outlier LOS data, with RZIP specifically employing a robust algorithm for better accuracy.
  • Analysis of data from 254 ICU patients revealed significant predictors of LOS and demonstrated that the RZIP model outperformed the traditional ZIP model in assessing these influences.
