Article Synopsis
  • This study looks at how personality traits can affect opioid use disorder (OUD) and things like how hard it is to quit, how much someone is addicted, and when they first started using drugs.
  • It included 141 people with opioid addiction and 160 healthy people to compare their traits and experiences.
  • The results showed that certain feelings like sadness and anger are connected to addiction, and factors like family history and past trauma might increase the risk of starting drug use early.

Article Synopsis
  • Mentalization is the process of understanding oneself and others' emotions and behaviors, and issues in this area may be related to white matter damage found in diseases like multiple sclerosis (MS).
  • A study with 243 participants (170 healthy individuals and 73 MS patients) assessed mentalization skills using the Mentalization Scale (MentS).
  • Results showed that MS patients scored lower in understanding others' mental states compared to healthy controls, indicating their difficulties in social cognition, but no significant differences were found in their motivation to mentalize or understanding their own mental states.

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a chronic progressive movement disorder characterized by abnormal sensations, especially at rest and at night, as the need and urge to move the lower extremity. It has been reported that RLS severity and frequency increase in patients with anxiety and depression. It has been reported that serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors such as venlafaxine and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as citalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine, and sertraline can cause RLS symptoms.

Resilience is the process of overcoming stressors. Being able to examine the effect of the Covid epidemic on healthcare workers (HCWs) has provided us a unique opportunity to understand the impact of trauma on resilience. We aimed to investigate the relationship between stress, mentalization, and an individual's coping capacity against a real risk (Covid-19) and evaluate the predictors of resilience.

In this study, we aimed to differentiate between euthymic bipolar disorder (BD) patients and healthy controls (HC) based on frontal activity measured by fNIRS that were converted to spectrograms with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). And also, we investigated brain regions that cause this distinction. In total, 29 BD patients and 28 HCs were recruited.

It is known that there is an increase in the frequency of psychiatric disturbances in the acute and post-illness phase of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Comorbid psychiatric symptoms complicate the management of patients and negatively affect the prognosis, but there is no clear evidence of their progress. We aimed to determine psychiatric comorbidity in inpatients and outpatients with COVID-19 and recognize the factors that predict psychiatric comorbidity.

Deep learning (DL) algorithms have achieved important successes in data analysis tasks, thanks to their capability of revealing complex patterns in data. With the advance of new sensors, data storage, and processing hardware, DL algorithms start dominating various fields including neuropsychiatry. There are many types of DL algorithms for different data types from survey data to functional magnetic resonance imaging scans.

Introduction: Biographical research as well as some controlled studies point out to a relationship between bipolar disorder (BD) and creativity. Neurobiological underpinnings of this relationship are unclear. Although there is no consensus on the definition of creativity, Alternative uses Test (AuT) and Remote Association Test (RAT) are frequently used to measure convergent and divergent creativity.
