Absent pulmonary valve syndrome (APVS) is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly. It is often associated with TOF, but may also be associated with an intact ventricular septum or, more rarely, with tricuspid atresia. It's combination with a complete atrioventricular septal defects and double outlet right ventricle has been reported extremely rare, even in the postnatal period.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to assess the outcomes and variations of absent pulmonary valve syndrome detected before birth, based on analysis of 37 cases from 2008 to 2020.
  • The research identified three subtypes of the syndrome, with the majority linked to tetralogy of Fallot, and found a significant prevalence of patent ductus arteriosus in fetuses with intact ventricular septum compared to those with tetralogy of Fallot.
  • The overall survival rate after diagnosis was 36.6%, with notable higher rates of genetic anomalies, particularly in cases associated with tetralogy of Fallot.

Article Synopsis
  • A multicenter study evaluated prenatal findings of right aortic arch (RAA) and its association with other cardiac and genetic anomalies, involving 137 fetuses diagnosed between 2009 and 2020.
  • The research found that 38.7% of RAA cases had additional intracardiac malformations and 18.9% had extracardiac anomalies, with higher rates noted in fetuses with abnormal intracardiac anatomy.
  • Overall survival was 85.4%, but the mortality rate was significantly higher in those with intracardiac anomalies compared to isolated RAA, indicating a need for careful prenatal counseling and possible amniocentesis for genetic testing.

Although a high percentage of foetuses with supraventricular tachycardia respond to single or dual antiarrhythmic therapy, on occasion when there is no response to these combination regimens, direct intra-foetal therapy remains the only choice, albeit such an approach carries a potential risk to the foetus.Data with regard to the safety and efficacy of triple antiarrhythmic combination have not been reported before. Here, we present a foetus with intractable tachycardia in whom arrhythmia termination was successfully achieved with triple oral antiarrhythmic therapy.
