Hodgkin Lymphoma in Children: A 16-year Experience at the Children's Welfare Teaching Hospital of Baghdad, Iraq.

Background: Childhood Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is an eminently curable disease. Good outcomes can be achieved even in resource-limited settings, and the focus is increasingly on limiting long-term toxicity. Contemporary treatment incorporates a risk-stratified, response-adapted approach using multiagent chemotherapy with/without low-dose radiotherapy.

Safety of COVID-19 Vaccine in Patients with Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases.

Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of COVID-19 vaccine side effects in patients with rheumatic diseases and to examine any potential associations with medications, disease type, or comorbidities.

Methods: A multicentre cross-sectional study from rheumatology units in different hospitals in Iraq was carried out between 8 of August 2021 and 4th of August 2022. Patients were eligible for inclusion if they have a rheumatic disease and have taken one or more doses of any COVID-19 vaccine.

A Cross-Sectional Study for the Spectrum of Clinical Diagnosis in Patients Presenting With Macrocytosis.

Objective The objectives of this study were to determine the frequency of the clinical spectrum of diseases in patients with macrocytosis and to summarize the diagnostic evaluation of patients found to have macrocytosis on laboratory testing. Concrete incorporating supplementary cementitious materials: Temporal evolution of compressive strength and environmental life cycle assessment.

The use of Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) or industrial wastes as a partial replacement for cement in the production of concrete is an urgent need in the construction industry due to cement's growing environmental challenges and rising cost. In respect of this, we conducted research work on proportioning binary concrete mixes. Fly ash (FA) replaced 10 %, 20 %, and 30 % of the cement, while silica fume (SF) replaced 5 %, 10 %, and 15 % of the cement.

Genetics of vegetarianism: A genome-wide association study.

A substantial body of evidence points to the heritability of dietary preferences. While vegetarianism has been practiced for millennia in various societies, its practitioners remain a small minority of people worldwide, and the role of genetics in choosing a vegetarian diet is not well understood. Dietary choices involve an interplay between the physiologic effects of dietary items, their metabolism, and taste perception, all of which are strongly influenced by genetics.

A 45 years old female patient was admitted to our facility for COVID -19 infection complicated by fulminant cardiac injury and refractory cardiogemic shock. She had echographic findings of reverse takotsubo cardiomyopathy. She was successfully treated by VA-ECMO allowing complete revocery of the left ventricule function and weaning from support.

Intrathoracic scapular dislocation following radical surgical chondrosarcoma resection from chest wall.

Locked scapula or intrathoracic scapular dislocation is an extremely rare entity encountered in the emergency department, with very few cases reported in literature. Conservative vs surgical approach in treating intrathoracic scapular dislocation is not well defined in literature. In this case report, we present a rare case of intrathoracic scapular dislocation, following multiple ribs resection due to malignant bone tumour, which was treated by closed manipulation reduction technique.

ALK-positive histiocytosis: a new clinicopathologic spectrum highlighting neurologic involvement and responses to ALK inhibition.

ALK-positive histiocytosis is a rare subtype of histiocytic neoplasm first described in 2008 in 3 infants with multisystemic disease involving the liver and hematopoietic system. This entity has subsequently been documented in case reports and series to occupy a wider clinicopathologic spectrum with recurrent KIF5B-ALK fusions. The full clinicopathologic and molecular spectra of ALK-positive histiocytosis remain, however, poorly characterized.

Distinctive Flow Cytometric and Mutational Profile of Acute Myeloid Leukemia With t(8;16)(p11;p13) Translocation.

Objectives: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with t(8;16)(p11;p13) abnormalities is a rare, aggressive, and diagnostically challenging subtype that results in KAT6A-CREBBP gene fusion.

Methods: To investigate their immunophenotype and genomic features, we identified 5 cases of AML with t(8;16) through a retrospective review of the databases at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL, and Washington University Medical Center, in St Louis, MO.

Results: In all, 4 of 5 cases were therapy related and 1 was possibly therapy related.

Isolation of Bovine leukemia virus from cows with persistent lymphocytosis in Iraq.

This is the first study to report on the isolation of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of two cross bred cows in Iraq. The cattle were seropositive by ELISA when selected while being surveyed for the detection of BLV. Among six cows, two were cases of persistent lymphocytosis (PL).

Newly diagnosed enhancing lesions: Steroid initiation may impede diagnosis of lymphoma involving the central nervous system.

Establishing the pathologic diagnosis of central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma can be challenging, yet management of this potentially curable disease depends heavily on it. One avoidable impediment to obtaining an accurate and timely diagnosis is the pre-operative administration of steroids, which causes tumor involution and prevents appropriate sampling of viable tissue. We discuss a case of primary CNS lymphoma that highlights the evolution of the disease and the attempts to establish a diagnosis in the setting of prior administration of corticosteroids.
