Persistent Menorrhagia and Hemorrhagic Ovarian Cyst in a Patient With Bernard-Soulier Syndrome: A Case Report.

Bernard-Soulier syndrome (BSS) is a rare qualitative condition of platelets wherein deficiency of platelet surface glycoproteins (GP) Ib, IX, and V forms the Ib-IX-V complex, leading to impaired hemostasis. Although it commonly presents as prolonged bleeding in general, women in the reproductive phase report additional complications during menstruation, pregnancy, and childbirth. In women of reproductive age, menorrhagia is a frequent complaint.

A low-cost PPG sensor-based empirical study on healthy aging based on changes in PPG morphology.

Objective: We study the changes in morphology of the photoplethysmography (PPG) signals-acquired from a select group of South Asian origin-through a low-cost PPG sensor, and correlate it with healthy aging which allows us to reliably estimate the vascular age and chronological age of a healthy person as well as the age group he/she belongs to.

Methods: Raw infrared PPG data is collected from the finger-tip of 173 appar- ently healthy subjects, aged 3-61 years, via a non-invasive low- cost MAX30102 PPG sensor. In addition, the following metadata is recorded for each subject: age, gender, height, weight, family history of cardiac disease, smoking history, vitals (heart rate and SpO2).

Improved Pyroelectric Nanogenerator Performance of P(VDF-TrFE)/rGO Thin Film by Optimized rGO Reduction.

The pyroelectric nanogenerator (PyNG) has gained increasing attention due to its capability of converting ambient or waste thermal energy into electrical energy. In recent years, nanocomposite films of poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoro ethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) and nanofillers such as reduced graphene oxide (rGO) have been employed due to their high flexibility, good dielectric properties, and high charge mobility for the application of wearable devices. This work investigated the effect of rGO reduction on pyroelectric nanogenerator performance.

Naringin: Cardioprotective properties and safety profile in diabetes treatment.

Enhanced Power Generation by Piezoelectric P(VDF-TrFE)/rGO Nanocomposite Thin Film.

In this study we fabricated a piezoelectric nanogenerator (PENG) of nanocomposite thin film comprising a conductive nanofiller of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) dispersed in a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) matrix that was anticipated to show enhanced energy harvest performance. For the film preparation we employed the Langmuir-Schaefer (LS) technique to provide direct nucleation of the polar β-phase without any traditional polling or annealing process. We prepared five PENGs consisting of the nanocomposite LS films with different rGO contents in the P(VDF-TrFE) matrix and optimized their energy harvest performance.

Acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP) is a rare hematological emergency characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, fever, and multiorgan failure due to autoimmune-mediated deficiency in ADAMTS-13 activity. Currently, plasma exchange, with or without steroids, is the frontline option for the management of aTTP. The treatment should be started promptly once the disorder is clinically suspected.
