Assessing the outcomes of subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy: pulling technique compared to the conventional method.

Introduction: The positive effect of varicocelectomy on sperm parameters (sperm morphology, concentration, motility) and fertility and pregnancy rates has been proven. Although various techniques have been defined for varicocele treatment, varicocelectomy with the pulling technique was first defined in 2017. The aim of this retrospective study is to compare the effectiveness and reliability of subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy with the "pulling" technique and conventional subinguinal varicocelectomy.

Androgenic Alopecia Is Associated With More Severe Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms Secondary to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.

Objectives: To evaluate the possible association between androgenic alopecia (AGA) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Methods: A total of 148 patients aged over 45 with LUTS secondary to BPH were prospectively enrolled in this study. According to the Norwood-Hamilton classification, the patients were divided into two groups: AGA (n = 69) and non-AGA (n = 79).

Performance of the EORTC and CUETO Models to Predict Recurrence and Progression in High-risk Non-muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer Patients.

Purpose: To evaluate the performance of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the Spanish Urological Club for Oncological Treatment (CUETO) risk scoring models in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients defined as high risk according to European Association of Urology guidelines and managed based on current recommendations.

Material And Methods: Data from 187 high-risk NMIBC patients treated at a tertiary center between July 2010 and November 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. One- and five-year recurrence- and progression-free survival were assessed for each patient using the EORTC and CUETO risk scores.

The association of reproductive hormones, thyroid function, and vitamin levels with premature ejaculation: A prospective case-control study.

Purpose: To investigate whether serum hormone (testosterone, prolactin, gonadotropins, and thyroid hormones) and vitamin (vitamin B, folic acid, and vitamin D) levels are associated with premature ejaculation (PE).

Materials And Methods: This prospective case-control study included 126 patients with PE (lifelong PE [LPE] in 94 and acquired PE [APE] in 32) who presented to the urology outpatient clinic between April 2016 and January 2023 and 92 healthy men as a control group. The diagnosis of PE was based on the criteria defined by the International Society for Sexual Medicine.

Comparison of hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy and Bacillus Calmette-Guerin therapy in high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer: a matched-pair analysis.

Twenty-four patients who received HIVEC were matched 1:1 with patients receiving BCG therapy based on tumor characteristics (tumor stage and grade), age, gender, smoking status, and the number of tumors (single or multiple).

Patients and methods The data of 22 patients who underwent two-piece inflatable penile prosthesis implantation in our department between 2015 and 2018 were retrospectively analyzed, and a detailed review of all clinical reports was performed. Phone or face-to-face interviews were undertaken to assess the satisfaction rates of the patients and their partners using the modified Erectile Dysfunction Inventory of Treatment Satisfaction (EDITS) questionnaire.

Impaired semen parameters in patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection: A prospective cohort study.

In this prospective study, we investigated the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on semen parameters in a cohort of men who had recently recovered from COVID-19. A total of 24 men who had recently recovered from mild COVID-19 were included in the study. Their semen parameters were normal before COVID-19 according to the World Health Organization 2010 reference values.

Determination of the time for improvement in semen parameters after varicocelectomy.

This retrospective study aimed to determine the time for improvement in semen parameters after varicocelectomy. A total of 175 patients over 18 years of age, who underwent microscopic inguinal varicocelectomy in a tertiary centre between 2005 and 2016 and had post-operative follow-up data of at least 12 months, were included in the study. Serial semen analyses in the pre-operative period and at the post-operative third, sixth, ninth and 12th months were retrospectively documented.

Evaluation of gonadotropin-replacement therapy in male patients with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH) is a rare disease in which medical treatment has a high success rate to achieve fertility. This study aimed to analyze the efficacy of hormone replacement therapy and determine predictive factors for successful spermatogenesis and spontaneous pregnancy in patients with idiopathic HH. A total of 112 patients with low testosterone (T), luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and normal prolactin levels were diagnosed with HH and administered LH and FSH analogs as hormone replacement therapy.

Objective: To assess the outcomes of the surgical techniques used in Peyronie's disease (PD) surgery.

Material And Methods: Two hundred and sixty-eight patients received surgical treatment for PD. Fifty four and 144 patients underwent simple corporoplasties (shortening procedure, SP, group 1) or plaque incision and grafting surgery (lengthening surgery, LP, group 2), respectively, whereas 70 patients with erectile dysfunction underwent penile prosthesis implantation.
