Article Synopsis
- - Cardiac fibrosis is a key factor in heart diseases, causing poor heart function and heart failure; this study focuses on improving the isoproterenol (ISO)-induced model of fibrosis and examining dendrosomal nano-curcumin (DNC) as a treatment in both lab settings and in living organisms.
- - In lab tests, DNC was shown to reduce the fibrotic effects of ISO on cardiac fibroblast cells, with supportive evidence from RT-qPCR and flow cytometry analyses.
- - In live subjects, ISO treatments resulted in significant fibrosis, but administering DNC before, during, or after ISO treatment helped alleviate the symptoms; RNA sequencing also identified the COMP gene as a potential new marker for cardiac fibrosis.
