Background: Shoulder dystocia, a challenging condition for obstetricians, poses significant risks to both maternal and neonatal health, including maternal postpartum hemorrhage, neonatal hypoxia, and brachial plexus injury. Despite being unpredictable and unpreventable, effective management can mitigate these risks. Miscommunication and poor leadership are responsible for 72% of medical errors, which further highlights the importance of robust leadership skills in obstetric emergencies.

Haematometra, a rare and delayed complication, can emerge following medical termination of pregnancy, also known as 'postabortal post-caesarean syndrome' or 'redo syndrome'. Treatment requires the immediate evacuation of both liquid and clotted blood for quick resolution, followed by administration of an oxytocic agent to ensure complete recovery. This current report describes a female patient in her mid-30s who presented with colicky lower abdominal pain following a medically-induced abortion at 10 weeks.

  • This case series examines the challenges of diagnosing and managing non-cancerous ovarian masses through three specific examples: struma ovarii, mature teratoma, and an ovarian mass with peritoneal splenosis.
  • The first case shows how a struma ovarii was wrongly suspected to be cancerous because of its complex imaging, leading to confusion in diagnosis.
  • The series emphasizes the need for a thorough diagnostic strategy that uses imaging, surgical observations, and tissue analysis to accurately differentiate between benign and malignant conditions in ovarian health.*

Background The relationship of coronary artery calcium (CAC) with adverse cardiac remodeling is not well established. We aimed to study the association of CAC in middle age and change in CAC from early adulthood to middle age with left ventricular (LV) function. Methods CAC score was measured by computed tomography at CARDIA study (Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults) year-15 examination and at year-25 examination (Y25) in 3043 and 3189 participants, respectively.

Aims: To evaluate the association of cumulative blood pressure (BP) from young adulthood to middle age with left atrial (LA) structure/function as assessed by three-dimensional echocardiography (3DE) in a large longitudinal bi-racial population study.

Methods And Results: We conducted a prospective post hoc analysis of individuals enrolled at the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults, which is a multi-centre bi-racial cohort with 30 years of follow-up. Cumulative systolic and diastolic BP levels were defined by summing the product of average millimetres of mercury and the years between each two consecutive clinic visits over 30 years of follow-up.

This report introduces a novel technique that allows a safe and predictable canal negotiation, creation of a glide path and canal preparation with reciprocating nickel-titanium or stainless steel engine-driven instruments in canals where the use of rotary and the newly developed reciprocating instruments is contraindicated. In this novel technique, the instruments are used in reciprocating motion with very small angles. Hand files are not used regardless of the complexity of the canal anatomy.
