Objective: To observe the effects of Jinshuibao Capsule (JC) combined losartan potassium on some indices of early renal damage of hypertension patients of yin and yang deficiency syndrome (YYDS), such as levels of serum cystatin C (Cys C), beta2-microglobulin (beta2-MG), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), uric acid (UA), blood pressure, blood lipids, and fasting blood glucose (FBG), and to explore their protective effects on early renal damage of hypertension patients and on the metabolisms of blood lipids and blood glucose.
Methods: Totally 106 hypertension patients of YYDS were randomly assigned to two groups, 53 patients in the control group (treated by losartan potassium) and 53 patients in the treatment group (treated by JC + losartan potassium). The treatment lasted for 16 weeks.
Objective: To study the effects of methyl jasmonate on multidrug resistance in a mouse model of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Methods: Multidrug resistant H22 (H22/FAP) hepatocellular carcinoma cells were produced in vitro by continuous exposure to increasing doses of doxorubicin, cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (FAP regimen). Cell toxicity was measured using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolum bromide (MTT) assay.
A novel metal-organic framework, {[Zn2Cl4(C25H24N4O4)]·4C3H7NO}n, has been synthesized solvothermally by assembling the semi-rigid tetrahedral ligand tetrakis[(pyridin-4-yl)oxymethyl]methane (tpom) and zinc nitrate in dimethylformamide (DMF). The crystal structure is noncentrosymmetric (P42(1)c). Each Zn(II) cation has a tetrahedral coordination environment (C2 symmetry), which is formed by two chloride ligands and two pyridine N atoms from two tpom ligands.

The MBR with good aerobic granular sludge performed the longest operation time 61 days, and TMP rose up in a steady overall rate, while only 10, 14 and 19 days for bulking, flocculent and small granular sludge, respectively, which clearly demonstrated the good and complete aerobic granules greatly retarded the membrane fouling. The pore blocking resistance 76.

Objective: To provide more detailed analysis of a Sprague-Dawley rat dermatitis model.
Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were actively sensitized by intraperitoneal injections of dinitrophenylated ovalbumin (DNP-OVA) plus alum.
Despite the rapid development of nanomaterials and nanotechnology, it is still desirable to develop novel nanoparticle-based techniques which are cost-effective, timesaving, and environment-friendly, and with ease of operation and procedural simplicity, for assay of target analytes. In the work discussed in this paper, the dye fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) was conjugated to 1,6-hexanediamine (HDA)-capped iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (FITC-HDA Fe3O4 MNPs), and the product was characterized. HDA ligands on the surface of Fe3O4 MNPs can bind 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) to form TNT anions by acid-base pairing interaction.

Objective: Acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML) accounts for 15 to 25 percent of childhood acute leukemias. Cytogenetic information is important for diagnosis, classification and prognosis of AML. Our aim was to analyze the relationship between karyotypic characteristics and prognosis of childhood AML.

Within the past few years, the invention of next-generation sequencing has revealed several new genes associated with tumor formation and development, for example DNMT3a. This gene is an independent prognostic factor for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The objective of this study was to analyze the DNMT3a mutation in childhood AML in a single center.

This study was purposed to investigate the diagnostic value of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technique for the childhood acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The medical data of 179 children with AML (aged ≤ 16 years) were retrospectively studied, who were initially diagnosed in our hospital from April 2005 to April 2010. Through the analysis of the results of FISH, chromosome banding analysis and polymerase chain reaction, the difference and complementarity between FISH and other 2 methods for detecting the fusion genes were explored.

In this study, the βC1 promoter from Malvastrum yellow vein betasatellite (MYVB) was characterized and important sequence elements were identified to modulate promoter activity and replication of MYVB.
Results: A 991 nucleotide (nt) fragment upstream of the translation start site of the βC1 open reading frame of MYVB and a series of deletions within this fragment were constructed and fused to the β-glucuronidase (GUS) and green fluorescent protein (GFP) reporter genes, respectively.
Granulosa cells proliferate, differentiate, and undergo apoptosis throughout follicular development. Previous studies have demonstrated that stimulation of progesterone production is accompanied by caspase-3 activation. Moreover, we previously reported that arsenic enhanced caspase-3 activity coupled with progesterone production.

A novel electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor for highly sensitive detection of Escherichia coli (E. coli) was first developed by employing Concanavalin A (Con A) as a biological recognition element and bis(2,2'-bipyridine)-4'-methyl-4-carboxybipyridine ruthenium (II) (Ru1) complex as the detector. The ECL biosensor was fabricated by adsorbing carboxyl-functionalised single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) onto a paraffin-impregnated graphite electrode and further covalently coupling the Ru1-Con A probe onto the surface of the SWNT-modified electrode.

Here, it is reported that an ABC1 protein kinase-encoded gene, AtACDO1 (ABC1-like kinase related to chlorophyll degradation and oxidative stress), located in chloroplasts, was up-regulated by methyl viologen (MV) treatment. AtACDO1 RNAi (RNA interference) plants showed developmental defects, including yellow-green leaves and reduced contents of carotenoids and chlorophyll; the chlorophyll reduction was associated with a change in the numbers of chlorophyll-binding proteins of the photosynthetic complexes.

Uric acid (UA) is a product of purine metabolism and is a natural antioxidant that can relieve the oxidative stress that occurs in PD. Recent studies have indicated that the serum UA level are associated with a risk of PD and PD progression of motor symptoms and have proposed UA as a possible biomarker of the underlying pathophysiology of PD.

In this study, we verified that two rice auxin receptor gene homologs (OsTIR1 and OsAFB2) could be targeted by OsmiR393 (Os for Oryza sativa). Two new phenotypes (increased tillers and early flowering) and two previously observed phenotypes (reduced tolerance to salt and drought and hyposensitivity to auxin) were observed in the OsmiR393-overexpressing rice plants.
