Here, using a C radioactive tracer, we explored fate of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in a wetland sediment slurry under oxic, nitrate-reducing, iron-reducing, and methanogenic conditions. In the sterile treatment, unlike the comparable SMX dissipation from the water phase under four redox conditions, non-extractable residues (NERs) of SMX was highest formed in the sediment under oxic condition, mainly in sequestered and ester/amide-linked forms.

In this study, a fiber-optic Fabry-Perot (FP) high-temperature pressure sensor based on sapphire direct bonding is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The sensor is fabricated by direct bonding of two-layer sapphire wafers, including a pressure diaphragm wafer and a cavity-etched wafer. The sensor is composed of a sensor head that contains a vacuum-sealed cavity arranged as an FP cavity and a multimode optical fiber.

An aluminum nitride (AlN) based patch antenna-type high-temperature wireless passive sensor is reported to operate as both a sensor and an antenna, which integrates in situ measurement/sensing with remote wireless communication at the same time. The sensor is small, easy to manufacture, highly sensitive and has a high operating temperature; it can be used in high-temperature, chemically corrosive and other harsh environments. The sensing mechanism of the sensor, the dielectric constant of the AlN ceramic substrate, increases with rising temperature, which reduces the resonant frequency of the sensor.

Methods: Six months after diabetes induction, the retinal vessels of male C57BL/6 J mice were observed by colour photography, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), and immunofluorescent staining following incubation with CD31. Immunofluorescence for glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA),and NG2 was also performed.
Combretastatin A-1 (CA-1) and combretastatin A-4 (CA-4) isolated from the African bush willow are highly potent tubulin polymerization inhibitors, possessing strong antitumor activities because of their vascular disrupting properties. Extensive SAR studies have been done for CA-4 analogs. Because of poor solubility, water-soluble prodrugs of CA-4 and CA-1 have been developed, which are currently in human clinical trials.

Through the combination of sapphire inductively coupled plasma etching and the direct bonding process, a vacuum-sealed cavity employable for high temperature applications is achieved. Cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy (SEM) research of the bonding interface indicates that the two sapphire pieces are well bonded and the cavity structure stays intact.

The proposed method uses one transmitting transducer and two receiving sensors that are encapsulated in a coupling plane and arranged by certain rules. The calculation and comparison of echo energy are grounded on the difference ultrasonic impedance between gas and liquid media.
