Introduction: We used habitat radiomics as an innovative tumor biomarker to predict the outcome of neoadjuvant therapy for esophageal cancer.

Methods: This was a two-center retrospective clinical study in which pretreatment CT scans of 112 patients with esophageal cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy and surgery between November 2020 and July 2023 were retrospectively collected from two institutions. For training (n = 85) and external testing (n = 27), patients from both institutions were allocated.

Programmed cell death represents a precisely regulated and active cellular demise, governed by a complex network of specific genes and proteins. The identification of multiple forms of programmed cell death has significantly advanced the understanding of its intricate mechanisms, as demonstrated in recent studies. A thorough grasp of these processes is essential across various biological disciplines and in the study of diseases.

Currently, although odorants of various foods have been thoroughly studied, the regulation of food aromas is still difficult due to the interaction between odorants and food matrices. These complex matrices in food may interact with odorants to change the volatility of odorants, which in turn affect food aroma. Clarifying the interaction between them are promising for predicting food aroma formation, which will provide valuable support for a high-efficiency food industry.

A palladium-catalyzed cascade reaction of α,β-unsaturated -tosylhydrazones with iodoarene derivatives containing a nucleophilic group has been developed, which provides facile access to 2-chromenes and 2-quinolines, respectively. Additionally, the double Pd-carbene migratory insertion/nucleophilic substitution processes for the synthesis of a ternary heterocyclic skeleton were possible in the developed catalytic system.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the comparative reproductive outcomes of ovarian stimulation combined with intrauterine insemination using partner's sperm (OS-IUI) in eumenorrheic and normogonadotropic oligomenorrheic women.

Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, including 3833 couples who underwent 5920 cycles of OS-IUI between June 2013 and March 2019. Participants were stratified into two cohorts based on menstrual regularity: eumenorrheic and normogonadotropic oligomenorrheic.

Article Synopsis
  • Macroautophagy is a process where cells recycle parts to survive stress or can lead to cell death.
  • Ferroptosis is a type of cell death that doesn’t depend on autophagy but recent studies show they are connected.
  • Researchers found that a protein called USP13 helps increase another protein, NFE2L2, and targeting USP13 can switch the process from autophagy to ferroptosis, which may help treat certain types of lung cancer.

Scalable fiber lithium-ion batteries (FLIBs) have garnered significant attention due to huge potential applications in wearable technology. However, their widespread applications have been limited by inadequate cycle and calendar life, primarily due to the high permeability of the encapsulation layer to water vapor in ambient air. To address this challenge, an ultra-high barrier composite tube is developed by blending polytrifluorochloroethylene (PCTFE) with organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) for the continuous packaging of FLIBs.

Introduction And Importance: Bone is one of the common sites of metastasis in lung cancer. Pathological fractures of the femur significantly reduce patients' quality of life and increase the risk of death. However, there is still no consensus on the optimal treatment of pathological femoral fractures.

  • Aberrant lipid metabolism is linked to endometrial cancer, prompting the study of statins as potential therapies, using Mendelian randomization (MR) to explore lipid traits' impact on the cancer.
  • The study employed two-sample MR, finding no causal relationship between genetically predicted lipid traits and endometrial carcinoma, but identifying drug targets like apolipoprotein B (APOB) and cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) as relevant.
  • Conclusions indicated no direct link between lipid traits (LDL-C, TG, TC, HDL-C) and endometrial cancer, yet highlighted APOB's association with lower risk and CETP's with higher risk for endometrioid carcinoma, pointing to

Histones methyltransferase NSD3 targeting H3K36 is frequently disordered and mutant in various cancers, while the function of NSD3 during cancer initiation and progression remains unclear. In this study, it is proved that downregulated level of NSD3 is linked to clinical features and poor survival in lung adenocarcinoma. In vivo, NSD3 inhibited the proliferation, immigration, and invasion ability of lung adenocarcinoma.

  • Placental ischemia from poor remodeling of uterine spiral arteries is linked to preeclampsia development.
  • The study investigates how endothelial progenitor cells, which help repair blood vessels, are affected during this remodeling process, particularly in women with preeclampsia.
  • Findings indicate that dysfunctional endothelial progenitor cells lead to artery narrowing and decreased blood flow to the placenta, providing insights into the causes of preeclampsia.

Replacement of liquid electrolytes with polymer gel electrolytes is recognized as a general and effective way of solving safety problems and achieving high flexibility in wearable batteries. However, the poor interface between polymer gel electrolyte and electrode, caused by insufficient wetting, produces much poorer electrochemical properties, especially during the deformation of the battery. Here we report a strategy for designing channel structures in electrodes to incorporate polymer gel electrolytes and to form intimate and stable interfaces for high-performance wearable batteries.
