Hepatoblastoma (HB) is the most commonly seen pediatric liver malignancy. With frequent mutations in CTNNB1 gene that encodes β-catenin, hepatoblastoma has been considered as a Wnt/β-catenin-activated malignant tumor. Altered glucose metabolism upon nutrient deprivation (glucose starvation) might also be a critical event in hepatoblastoma carcinogenesis.

Objective: To study the long-term clinical effect of multicenter multidisciplinary treatment (MDT) in children with renal malignant tumors.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the medical data of 55 children with renal malignant tumors who were diagnosed and treated with MDT in 3 hospitals in Hunan Province from January 2015 to January 2020, with GD-WT-2010 and CCCG-WT-2016 for treatment regimens. A Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to analyze the survival of the children.
Psoriatic arthritis appears in one in four skin psoriasis patients. Early detection of the presence of joint involvement and early interception of its developments may minimize long-term functional disability, and the radiological methods may be a perfect choice. To summarize and compare different imaging methods for diagnosing early-stage psoriatic arthritis and determine the necessity of joint examination in all psoriasis patients, several electronic databases, including MEDLINE and EMBASE, were searched for English language studies.

Graphene holds great potential for fabricating ultrathin selective membranes possessing high permeability without compromising selectivity and has attracted intensive interest in developing high-performance separation membranes for desalination, natural gas purification, hemodialysis, distillation, and other gas-liquid separation. However, the scalable and cost-effective synthesis of nanoporous graphene membranes, especially designing a method to produce an appropriate porous polymer substrate, remains very challenging. Here, we report a facile route to fabricate decimeter-scale (∼15 × 10 cm) nanoporous atomically thin membranes (NATMs) via the direct casting of the porous polymer substrate onto graphene, which was produced by chemical vapor deposition (CVD).

Methods: This study was a prospective sub-study of the P4 (Postpartum, Physiology, Psychology and Paediatrics) cohort.
Working alongside local stakeholders, members of the French-African Pediatric Oncology Group developed a 3-year program to train pediatric oncology teams from 15 French-speaking countries in Africa in using analgesics and providing palliative care. This program was rolled out in three phases: initial training, in situ assessment, and advanced training in selected topics. To access this program, multidisciplinary teams had to come up with a project to improve their existing palliative care and pain management practices, and commit themselves to implementing it.

Methods: We enrolled 108 patients with PAH from JAPHR from previous reported cohort and analyzed the relations between French Risk Stratification scores and hemodynamic improvements.
Results: The ratio meeting 0 to 4 French Risk Stratification score was 21.

We report here two cases of tinea capitis caused by in Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa. The patients were a three-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl who presented with scaly patches on the scalp. The causative fungus was isolated using an adhesive tape-sampling method and cultured on Sabouraud dextrose agar plates.

This methodology is based on Bayesian inference and is classically dedicated to non-infectious diseases whose incidence is low and whose cases distribution is spatially (and eventually temporally) structured. Over the last decades, disease mapping has received many major improvements to extend its scope of application: integrating the temporal dimension, dealing with missing data, taking into account various a prioris (environmental and population covariates, assumptions concerning the repartition and the evolution of the risk), dealing with overdispersion, etc.

The clinical data of 10 966 surgically managed cases with primary liver cancer, from January 1986 to December 2019 at Hepatobiliary Center, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, were retrospectively analyzed. The life table method was used to calculate the survival rate and postoperative recurrence rate.

Establishing correct correspondences between two images should consider both local and global spatial context. Given putative correspondences of feature points in two views, in this paper, we propose Order-Aware Network, which infers the probabilities of correspondences being inliers and regresses the relative pose encoded by the essential or fundamental matrix. Specifically, this proposed network is built hierarchically and comprises three operations.

The impaired synaptic plasticity and dendritic loss at the synaptic level is an early event associated with the AD pathogenesis. The abnormal accumulation of soluble oligomeric amyloid-β (Aβ), the major toxic component in amyloid plaques, is viewed to trigger synaptic dysfunctions through binding to several presynaptic and postsynaptic partners and thus to disrupt synaptic transmission.

Membranes are widely used for liquid separations such as removing solute components from solvents or liquid/liquid separations. Due to negligible vapor pressure, adjustable physical properties, and thermal stability, the application of ionic liquids (ILs) has been extended to fabricating a myriad of membranes for liquid separations. A comprehensive overview of the recent developments in ILs in fabricating membranes for liquid separations is highlighted in this review article.

Using a modified approach to remove up to ~90% rRNAs, we report a comprehensive transcriptional analysis of the M. xanthus developmental cycle while comparing it with the vegetative biofilms grown in rich and poor nutrients.

Numerous investigations have related aspects of operon structure to operon function, making operons exemplars for studies aimed at deciphering Nature's design principles for genomic organization at a local scale. We consider this understanding to be both fundamentally important and ultimately useful in the de novo design of increasingly complex synthetic circuits.

Course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) may be an early way to build student competency and positive attitudes. Here we describe the design, implementation, and assessment of an introductory quantitative CURE focused on halophilic microbes.

The activity of γ-secretase is critical to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). How its activity is regulated is intriguing and highly important for any AD therapy that focuses on reduction of toxic amyloid peptides and amyloid deposition in patients. Recently, interferon-induced transmembrane protein 3 (IFITM3) has been identified as a novel regulator of γ-secretase through a specific interaction.

This study showed that UO could be directly dissolved in a single carboxyl-functionalized ionic liquid (IL), [HOOCMmim][TfN] 1-carboxymethyl-3-methylimidazolium bistriflimide, or [HOOCEtmim][TfN] 1-carboxyethyl-3-methylimidazolium bistriflimide. The addition of an extra Fe-containing IL, [Emim][FeCl] (Emim, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium) or [Bmim][FeCl] (Bmim, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium) could significantly improve the dissolution kinetics.

Numbers declined and by the early 90s it was estimated that the total number of both savannah and forest elephants had reached 63 to 360 elephants in the entire country. Here we present updated information on the distribution and conservation status of forest elephant in Côte d'Ivoire based on multiple sources-dung counts on line transects, records of human-elephant conflict, media reports, sign and interview surveys-obtained during the period 2011-2017.
