Cancer stem cells (CSCs), a small fraction of cancer cells lines proved with stem cell characteristics, were regarded as "bad seeds" related to recurrence, metastasis and chemotherapy resistance of breast carcinoma in recent years. So inhibiting the growth or inducing the differentiation and apoptosis of CSCs were considered as one of the effective pathways to fight against breast cancer. Based on the recombinant protein TmSm(T34A) that was designed and prepared in our previous experiments for targeting survivin, an inhibitor of apoptosis protein(IAP), in this study, we explored the effects of TmSm(T34A) on BCSCs obtained by enriching in serum-free suspension, sorting and characterizing of MCF-7/ADM.

Bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) are very useful model systems for a better understanding of cell behavior and differential gene expression. Up to now, there have not been specific markers and MAbs for BMSCs that hamper the identification and isolation of BMSCs populations. In this study, chicken BMSCs were isolated from 1-day-old Beijing fatty chickens by adherent culture.

A novel red-emitting phosphor Ba10F2(PO4)6:Eu(3+) is synthesized by a high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis confirms the phase formation of Ba10F2(PO4)6:Eu(3+) materials. The photoluminescence excitation (PLE) and emission (PL) spectra, the concentration dependence of the emission intensity, decay curves and Commission International de I'Eclairage (CIE) of the phosphors are investigated.

As a bi-functional molecule in anti-apoptosis and pro-proliferation, Survivin is considered to be an attractive target for anti-cancer drug development all the time. Some studies show that these effects of survivin are mainly from two phosphorylation sites on its different domain, Thr 34 and Thr117, but it remains unclear that how they involve respectively in the apoptosis and the cell cycle of cancer cells, hindering the design and preparation of novel anti-cancer drug target to survivin. In the study, a series of recombinant double negative dominant mutants of survivin were constructed, expressed and purified efficiently, and their effects on cell cycle and apoptosis of breast cancer cell B-Cap-37 were investigated.

Objective: To determine the activity of anti-Herpes simplex II virus (HSV-2) of amylose extracted from Grateloupia filicina.

Methods: Grateloupia filicina amylose was extracted by five kinds of abstraction methods and its suppression on Herpes simplex II virus was observed on cell level in three aspects: the drug activity of protecting cell, the drug influence of HSV-2 proliferation and the drug synthesis action of HSV-2.

Results: Grateloupia filicina had prominence anti-Herpes simplex II virus activity, IC50 of amylose extracted by water distilling and ethanol sedimentation was 5.

To isolate polysaccharides with hot water from the caudex of Undaria pinnatifida, and precipitate with ethanol. The protein in polysaccharides was removed by sevage way. DEAE-52 and Sephadex G-200 column chromatography were used to isolate and purification polysaccharides, three purified polysaccharides F2, F3 and F4 were obtained.
