Background: We aim to develop a model to predict the probability of tonic-clonic seizures in women with epilepsy (WWE) at any point during pregnancy until six weeks postpartum.
Methods: We conducted a screening of patients diagnosed with epilepsy and who were pregnant, at a tertiary hospital in China, during the period of 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2020. We then followed up with these patients for at least one year postpartum.

Background: The Lim-domain binding protein PtaB, a homolog of Mfg1, governs conidiation and biofilm formation in several fungi. PtaB includes a conserved Lim-binding domain and two predicted nuclear localization sequences at its C terminus, and is co-regulated with the transcription factor Som1 downstream of the cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase A (cAMP/PKA) pathway. However, the function of PtaB in entomopathogenic fungi remain poorly understood.

The worldwide prevalence of CAG is high. Interestingly, clinical CAG patients often present with a variety of symptom phenotypes, which makes it more difficult for clinicians to treat.

Inflammation plays a crucial role in the occurrence and development of epilepsy. We analyzed inflammatory mediators in a regional hospital-based epilepsy cohort and investigated their relationship with subsequent epilepsy recurrence.

Methods: In this study, 132 whole-slide images (WSIs) of 114 patients with PCNSL were enrolled. Quantitative features of hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stained slides were extracted using CellProfiler.
Background: Remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) is proven to have neuroprotective protective effects. Nevertheless, the impact of RIPC on postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) in patients undergoing general anesthesia is controversial. This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) aimed to assess the effect of RIPC on POCD in adults after general anesthesia.

PubMed, Web of Science and Embase databases were searched to identify relevant articles by using MeSH and free terms of CXCL13 and neurosyphilis. A total of 720 syphilis and 338 neurosyphilis individuals in 6 articles were involved in this meta-analysis.

Metarhizium spp. exhibit different traits of pathogenicity, suggesting that the pathogenesis can be quite distinctive.

Atropine is usually proposed to treat intraoperative severe bradycardia ( < 40 beats per minute). However, atropine could induce ventricular arrhythmias, which might be life-threatening in severe case.

To this end, here we report the development of a translatable system leveraging soft and stretchable organic-electronic materials for continuous intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring. The system uses conducting polymer electrodes with low impedance and low modulus to record near-field action potentials continuously during microsurgeries, offers higher signal-to-noise ratios and reduced invasiveness when compared with handheld clinical probes for intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and can be multiplexed, allowing for the precise localization of the target nerve in the absence of anatomical landmarks.

This study aimed to evaluate the predictive ability of this model in pregnant Chinese WWE and its potential usefulness in clinical practice.
Methods: Data of the EMPiRE model were derived from the EMPiRE study, a prospective multicenter cohort study that recruited women on ASM monotherapy (lamotrigine, carbamazepine, phenytoin or levetiracetam) or polytherapy (lamotrigine with either carbamazepine, phenytoin or levetiracetam).
Objectives: Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common postsurgical complication. The early identification of its risk factors is the first step toward reducing POD. The predictive factors for POD in patients after major abdominal surgery remain obscure.

The aim of this study was to compare changes in seizure frequency and anti-seizure medication (ASM ) therapy in WWE in a real-world setting over three epochs (prepregnancy, pregnancy, and postpregnancy). We screened WWE who were pregnant between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2020 from the epilepsy follow-up registry database of a tertiary hospital in China.

Here, we report the case of a 68-year-old man who experienced cardiac arrest during percutaneous balloon compression for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. In this patient, sinus rhythm did not recover after stimulation removal, causing us to successfully perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Aims: This study aims to identify risk factors for postoperative delirium in patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery.
Entomopathogenic fungi play important roles in the control of populations of agricultural and disease vector pests in nature. The shortcomings of mycoinsecticides for pest management in the field cannot be completely overcome by improving single biocontrol properties of fungi. Therefore, enhancing the biocontrol potential of entomopathogenic fungi in multiple respects by genetic engineering is desirable.

However, it is unrealistic to obtain an early diagnosis in some areas since the Ab status cannot be immediately determined due to time and technology restrictions. In our study, we aimed to validate the Antibody Prevalence in Epilepsy and Encephalopathy (APE) score among patients diagnosed with possible AE as a predictive model to screen AE patients with antibodies to cell-surface proteins expressed in neurons.

Although antibiotics remain the mainstay of SIBO treatment, various alternative or adjunctive therapies are available, including prokinetic agents, dietary interventions, probiotics, and herbal combinations. There is accumulating evidence demonstrating the antimicrobial properties of a growing number of herbs including garlic, black cumin, cloves, cinnamon, thyme, all-spices, bay leaves, mustard, and rosemary.

Six attributes including the efficacy of AEDs, adverse reactions (digestive system, neuropsychic systems, and the effects on the fetus), dosing frequency and drug costs (to estimate patient WTP) were included in the DCE questionnaire based on results collected from literature reviews, expert consultation, and patient survey. The alternative-specific conditional logit model was used to analyze patient preference and WTP for each attribute and its level and to assess the sociodemographic impact and clinical characteristics.

However, 25% to 40% of patients with stage IA disease experience recurrence. Stratifying patients according to the recurrence risk may tailor adjuvant therapy and surveillance imaging for those with a higher risk.
