The development of efficient catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from water splitting is one of the most promising strategies to achieve the goal of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality. Herein, Ru nanoclusters decorated MoSe nanosheets supported on a Crepis tectorum fluff biomass-derived hollow carbon tube (Ru-MoSe/CMT) are prepared as the HER catalysts in both alkaline and acidic conditions. The Ru modification induces the transformation of MoSe from 2H phase to 1T phase.

Herein, hollow microtubes composed of RuNiCo alloy nanoparticles uniformly embedded in the carbon matrix (RuNiCo@CMT) are prepared through a simple impregnation followed by reduction. Benefiting from the unique mosaic structure and the synergistic effect between Ru and NiCo, RuNiCo@CMT achieves more exposed active sites and improved reaction kinetics.

Graphene, a two-dimensional (2D) carbon nanomaterial, has attracted worldwide attention owing to its fascinating properties. One of critical bottlenecks on some important classes of applications, such as printed electronics, conductive coatings, and composite fillers, is the lack of industrial-scale methods to produce high-quality graphene in the form of liquid suspensions, inks, or dispersions. Since 2008, when liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE) of graphene via sonication was initiated, huge progress has been made in the past decade.
