This work aimed to investigate the pharmacokinetics of six major blood-entering components(triptolide, triptophenolide, wilforgine, wilforine, tripterine, and wilforlide A) in Tripterygium wilfordii Polyglycosides Tablets(TWPT) between normal rats and the rat model of adjuvant arthritis, which was established by injection of Freund's complete adjuvant. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS) was employed to determine the content of six main components in the serum samples of normal and arthritic rats after administration of TWPT, and the pharmacokinetics of the six components were compared between normal and model rats. The specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, stability, extraction recovery and matrix effect of the established LC-MS method all met the requirements.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate how common herpes zoster (shingles) is in multiple myeloma patients and identify factors that increase this risk, along with assessing the effectiveness of antiviral treatments.
  • Out of 180 patients, 12.8% developed herpes zoster, with higher rates seen in those with renal issues and those who underwent stem cell transplants; patients on bortezomib had a slightly increased incidence.
  • The findings suggest that antiviral prophylaxis significantly lowers the risk of herpes zoster, particularly in patients receiving bortezomib, while the presence of herpes zoster did not impact overall survival rates.

The algorithm for cord blood (CB) unit selection is still somewhat ambiguous. We retrospectively analyzed 620 cases of acute leukemia between 2015 and 2020, who were treated with myeloablative single-unit umbilical CB transplantation (UCBT). We found that, when human leukocyte antigen (HLA) mismatch was ≤3/10, CD34 cell dosage <0.

Patients suffering from severe aplastic anemia (SAA) need frequent blood transfusions during allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). However, these transfusions can result in an excess of iron in the body tissues, which can negatively impact the success of transplantation. This study aimed to examine the impact of pretransplantation iron overload (IO) on the outcomes of allo-HSCT in patients with SAA.

Predicting the redox behavior of organic contaminants and heavy metals in soils is challenging because there are few soil redox potential (E) models. In particular, current aqueous and suspension models usually show a significant deviation for complex laterites with few Fe(II). Here, we measured the E of simulated laterites over a range of soil conditions (2450 tests).

Article Synopsis
  • - Jujube (Zizyphus jujuba), a small tree native to China, has been cultivated in several countries and used in traditional medicine for over 2000 years.
  • - In August 2019, a disease causing anthracnose-like leaf spots was identified on jujube plants in Shandong Province, China, affecting over 30% of the leaves, leading to perforation and early leaf loss.
  • - To determine the disease's cause, samples were taken from the affected leaves, and three representative fungal isolates were found to resemble the Colletotrichum gloeosporioides species complex based on their morphology and genetic analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examines how to evaluate immune recovery after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), analyzing immune profiles from over 11,000 post-transplant patients, mostly undergoing allogeneic HSCT.
  • - Researchers identified a composite immune signature from various blood cell counts taken 91-180 days post-transplant and created a Composite Immune Risk Score to predict early mortality, showing that high scores correlate with significantly increased risk.
  • - Validation of this scoring system revealed it is a reliable, easy-to-use tool that can help identify patients at high risk for complications, allowing for better-targeted care in preventing infections post-transplant.

The monitoring of harmful phytoplankton is very important for the maintenance of the aquatic ecological environment. Traditional algae monitoring methods require professionals with substantial experience in algae species, which are time-consuming, expensive, and limited in practice. The automatic classification of algae cell images and the identification of harmful phytoplankton images were realized by the combination of multiple convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and deep learning techniques based on transfer learning in this work.

Conventional antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) utilize native surface-exposed lysines or cysteines on the antibody of interest to conjugate cytotoxic payload. The nonspecific conjugation results in a mixture with variable drug-to-antibody ratios (DAR), conjugation sites, and ADCs that are often unstable in systemic circulation. ARX788 is an ADC consisting of a HER2-targeting antibody site-specifically conjugated with a potent antitubulin cytotoxic drug-linker, AS269.
