Phenanthridines are a class of useful heterocycles in the field of drug development. In this work, a method via electrochemical decarboxylative cyclization of α-amino-oxy acids to access phenanthridine derivatives was developed. This reaction proceeded through iminyl radical formation cascade intramolecular cyclization from readily available materials under environmentally friendly conditions.

Electrochemical oxidative regioselective C-H cyanation of imidazo[1,2-]pyridines was developed using readily available TMSCN as the cyano source. The KHPO/KHPO buffer was essential for this transformation. This protocol was compatible with a broad range of substituted imidazo[1,2-]pyridines and provided the C3 cyanated products in moderate to excellent yields.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal disease, notoriously challenging to treat. Previous studies have found a positive correlation between thymic atrophy and colitis severity. It was, therefore, worthwhile to investigate the effect of thymopentin (TP5), a synthetic pentapeptide corresponding to the active domain of the thymopoietin, on colitis.
