Reactivation refers to the re-emergence of activity in neuronal ensembles that were active during information encoding. Hippocampal CA1 neuronal ensembles generate firing activities that encode the temporal association among time-separated events. However, whether and how temporal association memory-related CA1 neuronal ensembles reactivate during sleep and their role in temporal association memory consolidation remain unclear.

Microorganisms produce extracellular enzymes to meet elemental requirements and cope with stoichiometric imbalances of resources. To gain insights into the cycling of C, N, and P, the activities of the C∶N∶P acquisition enzymes have been extensively investigated. To detect the effects of long-term fertilization practices on soil nutrient balance and characteristics of soil enzymatic stoichiometry in black soil, four different fertilization treatments were selected: no fertilization (CK), nitrogen fertilizer (N), phosphorus fertilizer (P), and combination of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers (NP).

Microplastics and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) are prevalent and emerging pollutants in agro-ecosystem, raising concerns due to their widespread co-presence. Nevertheless, their combined toxicity on terrestrial plants remains largely unexplored. This study investigated the impact of polypropylene microplastics (MPs), DEHP, and their mixture on the physiological and biochemical characteristics of cucumber seedlings.

We conducted a nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) addition experiment in Qianjiangyuan National Park in 2015, to investigate the response of ammonia-oxidizing microorganisms and denitrifying microorganisms. There were four treatments, including N addition (N), P addition (P), NP, and control (CK). Soil samples were collected in April (wet season) and November (dry season) of 2021.

Nitrogen (N) fertilizer is highly significant in agricultural production, but long-term N addition causes changes in quality indicators, such as soil organic matter (SOM), thus affecting the absorption and accumulation of organic pollutants. Therefore, paying more attention to organic fertilizers in the development of green agriculture is necessary. However, the accumulation of heavy metals (HMs) contained in organic fertilizers (especially sewage sludge compost (SSC)) in the soil can cause environmental contamination, but how this cumulative reaction changes with the long-term N addition remains unclear.

A flame retardant synergist (g-CN@FeO) was designed through an co-precipitation method by using graphitized carbon nitride (g-CN) and FeO, and its structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). A series of different contents of g-CN@FeO and intumescent flame retardant (IFR) were simultaneously added into eucommia ulmoides gum/natural rubber (EUG/NR) blends to improve the flame retardancy and reduce the smoke release. The flame retardancy, smoke suppression performance, thermal degradation behaviors and thermal stability of EUG/NR blends were evaluated by the limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL-94, cone calorimetry test (CCT) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

The synthesis of a sustainable material through carbon nitride (CN) chemically grafted on waste-derived carbon including carbonizing coals (PM), melamine-urea-formaldehyde resins (MUF-C-1100), and luffa cylindrical sponges (SG), respectively, and its application as sulfur cathode in lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries were demonstrated. The Li-S cell assembled by the sulfur (S) cathode with component from CNgrafted coal-derived carbon (PM-CN) possesses a specific capacity of 1269.8 mA h gat 0.

The flavonoid-metal complexes showed obviously stronger bioactivities such as antibiosis, antivirus, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and anti-free-radical, possibly because of the stronger binding force caused by the change in complex structure and accessibility to target spots, or the synergy effect between flavonoids and metallic ions. This essay summarizes studies on bioactivity and mechanism of flavonoid-metal complexes, in order to provide reference for in-depth study and development on effective constituents contained in flavonoid traditional Chinese medicines.

Objective: To study synthesis of baicalin-copper and baicalin-aluminium complex and its antimicrobial, anti-tumor activity and anti-tumor effect against macrophages.

Method: Baicalin was reacted with metallic salt under a weak base condition to produce baicalin-copper and baicalin-aluminium complex. Baicalin and its synthesized complex were detected for antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Hay bacillus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Candida albicans by twofold broth dilution technique.
