Significance: Single-molecule localization-based super-resolution microscopy has enabled the imaging of microscopic objects beyond the diffraction limit. However, this technique is limited by the requirements of imaging an extremely large number of frames of biological samples to generate a super-resolution image, thus requiring a longer acquisition time. Additionally, the processing of such a large image sequence leads to longer data processing time.

Background: Pulsed electric field has been widely used to facilitate molecular cargo transfer into cells. However, the cell viability is often decreased when trying to increase the electrotransfer efficiency. We hypothesize that the decrease is due to electropermeabilization of cell membrane that disrupts homeostasis of intracellular microenvironment.

Article Synopsis
  • The intestinal flora normally maintain a balanced relationship with the body, but damage to the intestinal barrier can lead to bacterial translocation (BT), causing multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).
  • Inflammatory responses arise from infections and endotoxins when the intestinal flora and contents leak into the bloodstream, with the intestine being both the origin and target of MODS.
  • Maintaining the integrity of the intestinal mucosal barrier is crucial to prevent BT; effective treatments include early diagnosis, restoring blood flow, enteral nutrition, and selective digestive decontamination.

Article Synopsis
  • Chlorothalonil (CHL) and procymidone (PRO) are commonly used fungicides with low toxicity but potential health risks, frequently found in the food chain.
  • An experiment on male mice revealed that exposure to CHL, PRO, and their combination led to liver damage, altered glucose and triglyceride levels, and impacted the metabolism of fatty acids.
  • The study also found that these fungicides negatively affected gut microbiota and intestinal barrier function, suggesting that CHL and PRO may work together to disrupt metabolism and gut health.
