Background: Frailty is of increasing interest in trials, either as a target of intervention, as an outcome or as a potential treatment modifier. However, frailty measurement is often highly variable. This scoping review assessed how frailty is quantified in randomised controlled trials (RCTs), in what context and for what purposes.

The chromodomain helicase DNA binding domain 2 (CHD2) gene is an ATPase and a member of the SNF2-like family of helicase-related enzymes. CHD2 plays critical roles in human brain development and function, and homozygous mutation of Chd2 in mice results in perinatal lethality. To further elucidate the effects of chd2, we used CRISPR/Cas9 to create two chd2-knockout strains (fdu901, 11,979-11982delGGGT, and fdu902, 27350delG) in zebrafish.

Introduction: Branchio-oto-renal syndrome (BOR syndrome) is a rare genetic disorder with an incidence of 1 in 40,000, affecting the development of multiple organs, including the branchio, ear, and kidney. It is responsible for 2% of childhood deafness. Currently, variants in the coding regions of the main causative genes, such as EYA1, SIX1, and SIX5, explain only half of the disease's etiology.

The EYA1 gene is essential for normal inner ear development and affects the development and function of the inner ear in a dose-dependent manner. However, the mechanisms regulating EYA1 gene expression are not well understood. Recently, miRNAs have become recognized as important regulators of gene expression.

Autophagy and apoptosis are two key cell fate determination pathways, which play vital roles in the interaction between viruses and host cells. Previous research had confirmed that one strain of fish rhabdoviruses, rhabdovirus (SCRV), could induce apoptosis and autophagy after infection. In the current study, we continued to analyze the interaction of autophagy and apoptosis in SCRV-infected EPC cell lines after treatment with different autophagy or apoptosis inhibitors.

Many curcumin derivatives were produced and characterized to improve the physiochemical instability and low solubility of curcumin. Here, MHMM-41 (a novel curcumin derivative) was used to treat non-small lung cancer cells of human (known as A549) and to identify its anti-proliferative activities. Our results suggested that MHMM-41 display no significant cytotoxicity toward normal human lung fibroblast 2BS cells and mouse embryonal fibroblast 3T3 cells.
