Vivianite, a notable secondary mineral formed through dissimilatory iron reduction (DIR), demonstrates great potential in addressing both eutrophication and phosphorus deficiency. However, the presence of competition for electrons from the methanogenic pathway and the low rates of Fe(III) reduction limit the creation of vivianite. In this research, H was utilized as electron donor assisted by activated carbon (AC) to promote Fe(Ⅲ) reduction with FePO as electron acceptors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of anti-salivary gland protein-1 (SP1) and anti-parotid secretory protein (PSP) antibodies in diagnosing Sjögren's syndrome (SS) among different patient groups.
  • The research involved 60 patients with primary SS, 30 with other autoimmune diseases, and 30 healthy controls, utilizing serum samples and various statistical tests to analyze their clinical and laboratory data.
  • Results indicated significant differences in the levels of anti-SP1 and anti-PSP antibodies among the three groups, suggesting their potential utility as biomarkers for diagnosing primary SS.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the performance of single-edge notched concrete beams reinforced with either carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) or steel bars, focusing on their failure modes and load-bearing capacities through static and dynamic tests.
  • Static tests revealed that reinforced concrete (RC) beams primarily failed due to shear, while CFRP beams showed bending-shear failure due to weaker bond strength with the concrete.
  • Dynamic impact tests indicated that as impact velocity increased, both beam types transitioned to bending-shear failure; at high velocities, CFRP beams absorbed less energy than RC beams, highlighting their differing mechanical characteristics.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to detect the saliva chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 13 (CXCL13), macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), and interleukin 35 (IL-35) levels in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) and pSS-associated interstitial lung disease (pSS-ILD), and to explore the relationship between CXCL13, MIF, IL-35 levels, and disease severity.

Material And Methods: ESSDAI score was used to evaluate the disease activity of pSS patients, and the levels of CXCL13, MIF and IL-35 in saliva of subjects were detected and analyzed, and the relationship between CXCL13, MIF, IL-35 and the occurrence of pSS was evaluated. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to analyze the correlation between CXCL13, MIF, IL-35 and ESSDAI score.

Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is an immune-mediated liver disease characterized by cholestasis, biliary injuries, liver fibrosis, and chronic non-suppurative cholangitis. The pathogenesis of PBC is multifactorial and involves immune dysregulation, abnormal bile metabolism, and progressive fibrosis, ultimately leading to cirrhosis and liver failure. Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and obeticholic acid (OCA) are currently used as first- and second-line treatments, respectively.

Electroencephalogram-microstate analysis was conducted using low-resolution electromagnetic tomography (LORETA)-KEY to evaluate dynamic brain network changes in patients with acute large artery atherosclerotic cerebral infarction (LAACI) during the rest and sleep stages. This study included 35 age- and sex-matched healthy controls and 34 patients with acute LAACI. Each participant performed a 3-h, 19-channel video electroencephalogram test.

Objective: The changes in resting-state functional networks and their correlations with clinical traits remain to be clarified in migraine. Here we aim to investigate the brain spatio-temporal dynamics of resting-state networks and their possible correlations with the clinical traits in migraine.

Methods: Twenty Four migraine patients without aura and 26 healthy controls (HC) were enrolled.

We studied the effect of Tianma Gouteng Decoction on vascular aging in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHRs) to explore the molecular mechanism of the decoction in improving arterial vascular aging by regulating the expression of mitofusin 2(MFN2).Twenty 64-weeks-old SHRs were randomly assigned into the aging group and the treatment group(Tianma Gouteng Decoction 5.48 mg·kg~(-1)).

Objectives: To investigate the prognostic value of baseline musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) findings for rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Method: We retrospectively analyzed 138 patients with RA. Patients' first MSUS record was considered as the baseline expression.

Subsequently to the publication of the above article, an interested reader drew to the authors' attention that, in Fig. 4A on p. 6, the 'T' and 'DAPT' data panels appeared to contain some of the same data, although one of the panels appeared to have been rotated through 180° relative to the other.

Age-related functional decline is a physiological phenomenon that occurs in all organ systems. However, the acceleration and early occurrence of this process are observed in cardiovascular pathologies, including hypertension. This study aimed to investigate SIRT1-PTEN signaling in aortic tissue from spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) and changes in SIRT1 and PTEN expression following treatment with Pinggan-Qianyang decoction (PGQYD) and explore the mechanism involved in the treatment of hypertensive vascular aging with traditional Chinese medicine.

Background: Both experimental and clinical studies have revealed satisfactory effects with the traditional Chinese formula Pinggan Qianyang decoction (PGQYD) for improving vascular remodeling caused by essential hypertension. The present study explored various therapeutic targets of PGQYD using mRNA transcriptomics.

Methods: In this study, rats were randomly divided into three groups: Wistar-Kyoto (WKY; normal control), spontaneously hypertensive (SHR), and PGQYD-treated rat groups.

The Notch signaling pathway participates in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cell (PASMC) proliferation and apoptosis. Astragaloside IV (AS‑IV) is an effective antiproliferative treatment for vascular diseases. The present study aimed to investigate the protective effects and mechanisms underlying AS‑IV on hypoxia‑induced PASMC proliferation and pulmonary vascular remodeling in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) model rats.

The present study aimed to investigate the association between the expressions of serum progranulin (PGRN) and serum soluble Oxford 40 ligand (sOX40L) and determine their clinical significances in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS).The present study included a total of 68 patients with pSS and 50 healthy controls. Demographic data and clinical basic information were collected.

Background: Increasing research suggests that mitochondrial defect plays a major role in pulmonary hypertension (PH) pathogenesis. Mitochondrial dynamics and quality control have a central role in the maintenance of the cell proliferation and apoptosis balance. However, the molecular mechanism underlying of this balance is still unknown.

Tau leaping methods enable efficient simulation of discrete stochastic chemical systems. Stiff stochastic systems are particularly challenging since implicit methods, which are good for stiffness, result in noninteger states. The occurrence of negative states is also a common problem in tau leaping.
