Background: The relationship between quality of life and survival outcomes in esophageal cancer patients following curative resection is not well established. This study aimed to longitudinally assess quality of life indicators and their association with overall survival (OS) in these patients.
Methods: A total of 232 patients were included in the study, and their quality of life was prospectively assessed at different time points using the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) 30-item core quality of life questionnaire (QLQ-C30) and the disease-specific esophageal module (QLQ-OES18).
Objective: This study aimed to construct a model based on 23 enrolled molecules to evaluate prognoses of pT2/3N0M0 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients with up to 20 years of follow-up.
Methods: The lasso-Cox model was used to identify the candidate molecule. A nomogram was conducted to develop the survival model (molecular score, MS) based on the molecular features.

Treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors, widely known as immune checkpoint blockade therapy (ICBT), is now the fourth pillar in cancer treatment, offering the chance of durable remission for patients with advanced disease. However, ICBT fails to induce objective responses in most cancer patients with still others progressing after an initial response. It is necessary, therefore, to elucidate the primary and acquired resistance mechanisms to ICBT to improve its efficacy.

Pathological lymph node status(pN) of lung cancer affects the treatment strategy after surgery while systematic lymph node dissection(SLND) is always unsatisfied.
Methods: We reviewed the clinicopathological features of 2,696 patients with LUAD and one single lesion ≤ 5 cm who underwent SLND in addition to lung resection at the Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center.
Introduction: At present, clinical factors and hematological indicators have been proved to have great potential in predicting the prognosis of cancer patients, and no one has combined these two valuable indicators to establish a prognostic model for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients with stage T1-3N0M0 after R0 resection. To verify, we aimed to combine these potential indicators to establish a prognostic model.
Methods: Stage T1-3N0M0 ESCC patients from two cancer centers (including training cohort: N = 819, and an external validation cohort: N = 177)-who had undergone esophagectomy in 1995-2015 were included.
Background: The efficacy of monotherapy of AMG-510 is limited. This study explored whether the AMG-510 and cisplatin combination increases the anti-tumor effect in lung adenocarcinoma with the mutation of Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene (KRAS) G12C.
Methods: Patients' data were used to analyze the proportion of KRAS G12C mutation.
Background: The study on skip-N2 metastasis in small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is lacking. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the prognostic significance of skip-N2 metastasis based on a multicenter cohort.
Methods: We collected 176 SCLC patients with pathological categories T1-4N1-2M0 from four hospitals in China.
: Tumor markers have been shown to be closely related to the long-term survival of patients with cancer and the recurrence of various malignant tumors. However, their role in thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) remains to be elucidated. We aimed to investigate whether the preoperative tumor biomarkers carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) could serve as independent predictors of postoperative prognosis in patients with TETs.

We aimed to develop a nomogram to predict overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) based on a large cohort of patients.
Methods: The Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database was searched to identify TC patients (1975-2016).
Introduction: Systemic nutrition and immune inflammation are the key factors in cancer development and metastasis. This study aimed to compare and assess four nutritional status and immune indicators: prognostic nutritional index (PNI), nutritional risk index (NRI), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and the systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) as prognostic indicators for patients with thymic epithelial tumors.
Materials: We retrospectively reviewed 154 patients who underwent thymic epithelial tumor resection at our hospital between 2004 and 2015.
Background: The postoperative survival effect of the number of examined lymph nodes on patients of R0-resected esophageal squamous cell carcinoma with pathological stage T1-3N0M0 is still unclear.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with pathological stage T1-3N0M0 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma from two cancer databases-our cancer center (N = 707), and Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (N = 151). The primary clinical endpoint was overall survival.
Background: Hematological indicators and clinical characteristics play an important role in the evaluation of the progression and prognosis of thymic epithelial tumors. Therefore, we aimed to combine these potential indicators to establish a prognostic nomogram to determine the relapse-free survival (RFS) of patients with thymic epithelial tumors undergoing thymectomy.
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 156 patients who underwent thymectomy between May 2004 and August 2015.
Dopa-responsive dystonia (DRD) is a movement disorder that is highly clinically and genetically heterogeneous. Our study summarizes clinical characteristics and long-term outcomes in patients with dopa-responsive dystonia with the aim of obtaining further knowledge on this disorder. Patients who met DRD genetic diagnostic criteria through whole-exome sequencing and took levodopa for over 3 years were included in our study.

Patients selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER, = 2,373) database were divided into two cohorts, namely a training cohort (SEER-T, = 1,196) and an internal validation cohort (SEER-V, = 1,177). Two cohorts were dichotomized into low- and high-risk subgroups by the optimal risk prognostic score (PS).

To determine the association of NLNs with cancer-specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with stage IA NSCLC with tumor size ≤ 2 cm who underwent different lung surgeries.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 7293 patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database.
Background: To investigate MiRNA-126 amounts in serum exosomes from allergic asthma patients as well as lung tissues of asthmatic mice, evaluating the expression of its target gene DNMT1 in mouse specimens.
Methods: MiRNA-126 amounts in serum exosomes from asthmatic patients were detected by real-time PCR. The mouse model of allergic asthma was established by OVA-sensitization, and allergic symptoms were recorded; serum IL-4 and sIgE level evaluation (ELISA), broncho alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) cell count and H&E staining were performed to assess airway inflammation.
Cri-du-Chat syndrome (MIM 123450) is a chromosomal syndrome characterized by the characteristic features, including cat-like cry and chromosome 5p deletions. We report a family with five individuals showing chromosomal rearrangements involving 5p, resulting from rare maternal complex chromosomal rearrangements (CCRs), diagnosed post- and pre-natally by comprehensive molecular and cytogenetic analyses. Two probands, including a 4½-year-old brother and his 2½-year- old sister, showed no diagnostic cat cry during infancy, but presented with developmental delay, dysmorphic and autistic features.

In the present work, Raman spectra of alkane gases aqueous solution under simulated deep-sea hydrothermal environment were acquired by high temperature and high pressure deep-sea simulation experiment system. The variation laws of the Raman spectral features with various temperature and pressure were analyzed and mathematical model between them were established. The results show that for all Raman peaks of these alkane gases in aqueous solution the frequency is lower than gaseous state because of hydrogen bond; the variations of their Raman spectrum were not obvious as the pressure increased (< or = 40 MPa) in room temperature; and all peak positions move to lower wave number and their full width at half maximum (FWHM) increased along with changing temperature in the range of room temperature to 350 degrees C at 40 MPa pressure.
