Background: Approximately half of the patients with acute ischemic stroke who receive intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) do not achieve an excellent outcome. Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) as a promising neuroprotective treatment may improve clinical outcomes in this population. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of RIC in patients with IVT.

Ice accretion caused by freezing rain or snowstorms is a common phenomenon in cold climates that seriously threatens the safety and reliability of telecommunication lines and other overhead networks. Various anti-icing strategies have been demonstrated through surface engineering to delay ice formation. However, existing anti-icing surfaces still encounter several challenges; for example, surfaces are prone to ice-pinning formation due to the impact of supercooled droplets, which leads to a loss of anti-icing effectiveness.

Mental fatigue is an important factor affecting athletes' performance. Explaining the effects of mental fatigue on sports performance from a theoretical point of view can help us deeply understand the interconnection between mental fatigue and sports performance and conduct effective interventions based on this. Combining the relevant literature in China and abroad reveals that the current academic theories on the mechanism of sports fatigue include motivational control theory, underload theory, neural waste disposal hypothesis, and resource depletion theory.

The synthesis of mesoporous metal-organic frameworks (meso-MOFs) is desirable as these materials can be used in various applications. However, owing to the imbalance in structural tension at the micro-scale (MOF crystallization) and the meso-scales (assembly of micelles with MOF subunits), the formation of single-crystal meso-MOFs is challenging. Here we report the preparation of uniform single-crystal meso-MOF nanoparticles with ordered mesopore channels in microporous frameworks with definite arrangements, through a cooperative assembly method co-mediated by strong and weak acids.

Objective: Both belimumab and telitacicept are recognised blockers for B lymphocyte activation, both of which have been approved as add-on therapies for SLE in China. The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of rituximab (RTX) followed by belimumab or telitacicept in a real-world cohort.

Methods: A total of 49 refractory lupus nephritis patients were enrolled from four independent centres, subsequently categorised into two treatment groups: belimumab group (n=35) and telitacicept group (n=14) based on their treatment following RTX.

Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a prevalent, incurable condition requiring lifelong management. Inadequate daily management exacerbates COPD, leading to increased healthcare utilization and reduced quality of life.

Methods: This study aimed to design and validate a 10-item COPD self-evaluation (COPD-ES) questionnaire and apply it in the education of stable COPD patients.

Background: Cervical cancer is a prevalent malignancy among women, often asymptomatic in early stages, complicating detection.

Objective: This study aims to investigate innovative techniques for early cervical cancer detection using a novel U-RCNNS model.

Methods: Cervical epithelial cell images stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) were analyzed using the U-RCNNS model, which integrates U-Net for segmentation and R-CNN for object detection, incorporating dilated convolution techniques.

Background: The study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined anlotinib and EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who had gradual, oligo, or potential progression after previous EGFR-TKIs treatment.

Methods: We conducted an open-label, single-arm, multicenter, phase II trial in China. Eligible patients were 18-75 years old with histologically or cytologically confirmed NSCLC who were EGFR mutation positive and showed gradual, oligo, or potential progression after EGFR-TKIs.

Objectives: The neural mechanism associated with impaired consciousness is not fully clear. We aim to explore the association between static and dynamic minimum spanning tree (MST) characteristics and neural mechanism underlying impaired consciousness.

Methods: MSTs were constructed based on full-length functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) signals and fMRI signal segments within each time window.

Background And Aims: Exploring the effect of different isometric resistance training (IRT) on improving blood pressure, so as to provide important reference for the design of aerobic exercise prescription for IRT to improve blood pressure.

Methods: Forty eight overweight or obese college students with irregular exercise habits were randomly divided into four groups and underwent exercise intervention three times a week for a total of 6 weeks. Cardiovascular changes were evaluated before the first and 18th exercise sessions, as well as 0, 30, and 60 min after exercise.

Article Synopsis
  • This chapter focuses on using lineage barcodes, which are measurements of cell evolution through mutations, to study single cells' development and fate changes.
  • It presents Quantitative Fate Mapping (QFM) and its computational tools, such as the Phylotime model for cell phylogeny and the ICE-FASE algorithm for analyzing progenitor cells.
  • The importance of proper sampling for interpreting results is highlighted, offering a comprehensive framework for understanding how cell fates evolve over time.

Article Synopsis
  • Intimal hyperplasia (IH) is a major issue in vascular interventions, and this study investigates the role of gangliosides GA2 in its development.
  • Researchers found that GA2 levels were significantly higher in atherosclerotic mouse aortae and plasma, and injecting GA2 worsened IH by interacting with macrophages.
  • The study reveals that GA2 activates caspase-4 and promotes pyroptosis in macrophages, suggesting a new mechanism for IH that could lead to potential diagnostic and treatment strategies.

TNFα inhibitors have been successfully developed and used in the clinical treatment of autoimmune disorders. However, the use of TNFα blockade may be accompanied by side effects. The cases of bacterial and viral infections, lymphoproliferative disorders, and anti-TNFα-induced lupus, have been reported among the rheumatoid arthritis or Crohn's disease patients treated with TNFα blockers.

The mitochondrial pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) plays a crucial role in linking the glycolysis pathway and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. Previously, we reported that a mutation of , encoding an E1β subunit of PDC, affects the abundance of auxin efflux carriers PIN-FORMED proteins (PINs) via reduced recycling and enhanced degradation in vacuoles. Here, we further analyzed the effects of TCA cycle inhibition on vesicle trafficking using both the mutant and 3-BP, a TCA cycle inhibitor.

The use of antibiotics is the preferred therapy for bacterial diseases. However, overusing antibiotics has led to the development of antibiotic resistance in bacteria, which is now a major public health concern. Therefore, in this study, the performance of lysozyme (LYZ)/tracheal antimicrobial peptide (TAP)-based tissue-specific expression antimicrobial plasmids (TSEAP) have been evaluated in the treatment of mastitis in mice.

The leakage of Liquid scintillator exudates has brought potential harm to the environment. Attributed to the large specific surface area and high modifiability, high-performance adsorbents based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can effectively remove organic pollutants. In this work, we use different functional groups to prepare the material of UIO-66(Zr).

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major factor for cancer-associated mortality globally. Although the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and albumin (ALB) show individual prognostic value for various cancers, their combined significance (SII/ALB) in HCC patients undergoing curative hepatectomy is still unknown. It is hypothesized that a higher SII/ALB ratio correlates with poorer outcomes with regard to overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS).

Cisplatin, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent, can be used to treat cervical cancer (CC), but cisplatin resistance is increased during the cisplatin treatment. Long non-coding RNA PGM5-AS1 reportedly participates in CC tumorigenesis; however, its role in CC patients with cisplatin resistance has not been revealed. The present aimed to examine the role of PGM5-AS1 in modulating cisplatin resistance in CC.
