The fate of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) and associated antibiotic-resistant gene (ARG) expression under electrolytic stimulation in bio-electrochemical reactors (BERs) was unknown. In this study, sulfadiazine resistant bacteria (Klebsiella spp.), which were isolated from a BER, were subjected to constant direct current (DC) stimulation in a simulated BER.

Ours is the first case of PRES developing after postpartum hemorrhage and uterine artery embolization.
Patient Concerns: An 18-year-old patient had postpartum hemorrhage after a normal delivery.
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are used for tissue regeneration in several pathological conditions, including autoimmune diseases. However, the optimal sources and culture requirements for these cells are still under investigation. Here, we compared mRNA expression in dermal MSCs (DMSCs) at passage (P) 3 and P5 to provide a reference for future studies related to DMSCs expansion.

We demonstrated that the presence of long-term angiotensin II type 1 receptor autoantibody (AT1-AA) reduces aldosterone production by triggering a Ca overload in H295R cells. AT1-AA was discovered in preeclamptic women and reported to activate ATR, and consequently elevate intracellular Ca.

However, its roles in hepatocellular carcinoma with cirrhotic liver (CL) and hepatocellular carcinoma with non-cirrhoticliver (NCL) haves not been investigated. In our study western bloting, qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry were performed to evaluate the clinical significance of PKM2 protein expression in CL and NCL.

However, its pathogenic roles in hepatic diseases have never been clarified in detail. Here, we showed that the upregulated GP73 is indispensable for SREBPs activation and lipogenesis.

The role of asbestos exposure in the development of small airway obstruction remains controversial. Anatomic and physiologic small airway abnormalities may develop as part of the pathophysiologic process of asbestosis.

In this paper, we report the first study of random responses of fractional-order system coupled with noise and delayed feedback. Stochastic averaging method has been utilized to determine the stationary probability density functions (PDFs) by means of the principle of minimum mean-square error, based on which stochastic bifurcations could be identified through recognizing the shape of the PDFs.

The resonance effect of autapse is detected by imposing a self-feedback loop with autaptic strength and autaptic time delay to each constituent neuron. Numerical simulations have demonstrated that bounded noise with the proper level of amplitude can induce stochastic resonance; moreover, the noise induced resonance dynamics can be significantly shaped by the autapse.

Prostate cancer is the most common solid cancer and genetic factors play important roles in its pathogenesis. is one of the 8 core genes involved in the nucleotide excision repair pathway. The relationship between Asp312Asn, Lys751Gln, and Arg156Arg polymorphisms in and prostate cancer risk is a controversial topic.

The results found that SMX (30mgL) was rapidly degraded in the BES, and the SMX removal kinetics was simulated well by a first-order kinetic model (R>0.93).

Background: The cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) has been reported to influence individual susceptibility to chronic pancreatitis (CP), but the results of previous studies are controversial.
Aims: We performed a study to demonstrate the relationship between CFTR and CP.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Embase for studies of patients with CP.

Serum creatinine (SCR) has been found to be neuroprotective in neurodegenerative disease. However, whether SCR is a protective factor for vision impaired in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is unclear. This study to determine the relationship between SCR level and vision impaired in NMOSD patients through multivariate-adjusted linear regression analyses.

Objective: This study aims to clarify the relationship between serum GP73 levels and tumor recurrence as well as survival of HCC patients after LT.
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the rate, location, and characteristics of bifid mandibular canals (BMCs) in the population of the Shanghai area using cone beam computed tomography to avoid complications during surgical procedures.
Methods: Two hundred eighty patients were recruited for this study, and the presence and morphology of BMCs were evaluated.
Results: The occurrence rate of BMCs in the Shanghai area was relatively high compared with that in other populations, reaching 31.
PARP-1 (poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1) plays an important role in tumorigenesis. Since its effects on different populations are varied, this study investigated the impact of PARP-1 on primary hepatocellular carcinoma in a Southern Chinese Zhuang population. We assessed the global PARP-1 messenger RNA expression in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma using The Cancer Genome Atlas dataset.

Methods: A comprehensive search of studies on MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and Chinese databases (Wan Fang,CNKI and VIP) from 1 January 1915 through 30 November 2015 (MEDLINE search updated through 31 December 2015) was performed. We included only randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that used acupuncture and sham acupuncture to treat simple obesity.
Cancer cells are immature cells resulting from cellular reprogramming by gene misregulation, and redifferentiation is expected to reduce malignancy. It is unclear, however, whether cancer cells can undergo terminal differentiation. Here, we show that inhibition of the epigenetic modification enzyme enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), histone deacetylases 1 and 3 (HDAC1 and -3), lysine demethylase 1A (LSD1), or DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1), which all promote cancer development and progression, leads to postmitotic neuron-like differentiation with loss of malignant features in distinct solid cancer cell lines.

Nurses, the healthcare professionals who are in most frequent contact with patients, have access to a significant amount of confidential patient information and play a key role in protecting patient privacy. However, currently, there is no proper tool to measure the level to which clinical nurses protect the privacy of their patients in China.

The modular neuronal network is composed of two subnetworks which present the small-world property and scale-free property, respectively. Numerical results show that spatiotemporal order that the modular network is most coherent in time and nearly synchronized in space can emerge intermittently when the coupling delays among neurons are appropriately tuned.
