In this paper, Fe-3%Si ultra-thin ribbons prepared by the planar flow casting (PFC) technique were subjected to temper rolling and annealing treatments. The microstructure and texture evolution during this process were examined through experimental measurements coupled with crystal plasticity finite element (CPFE) simulation to assess the feasibility of preparing ultra-thin non-oriented silicon steel using PFC ribbons. The results indicate that the PFC ribbons exhibit a significant columnar crystal structure, and {001}-oriented grains comprise over 30%.

Article Synopsis
  • Gout is a painful type of arthritis linked to complex inflammatory and immune responses, with unclear mechanisms behind flare-ups and remissions.
  • Research using advanced techniques identified that specific immune cells, particularly HLA-DQA1+ nonclassical monocytes, are crucial in triggering gout flares and maintaining inflammation, while T regulatory cells (Tregs) play a key role in controlling inflammation during remission.
  • The study underscores significant changes in various immune cell activities and metabolic processes during gout episodes, suggesting that targeting these immune responses could help prevent future gout attacks and worsening of the condition.

  • Preventing perinatal transmission of hepatitis B is crucial for achieving elimination of the virus.
  • A study analyzed data from over 39,000 infants born to mothers who tested positive for HepB, revealing that a high percentage received timely vaccinations.
  • Factors like maternal age and HepB e-antigen status increased infection risk, but the interval between the first and second doses of the vaccine did not affect the infection likelihood.

In this study, the evolutions of Cube and {115}<161> orientations of a cold-rolled ultra-thin non-oriented silicon steel were investigated using a combination of experimental investigation and the crystal plasticity finite element method (CPFEM). The results show that Cube orientations remain relatively stable when their initial deviation angles from the ideal Cube orientation are less than 12°, even after a 60% cold rolling reduction. However, larger deviations occur due to higher strain near grain boundaries.

  • This study assessed the effectiveness of the measles-rubella vaccination program in Laos by comparing seroprevalence data from surveys conducted in 2014 and 2019.
  • A significant increase in immunity levels was observed, with measles seroprevalence rising from 83.9% to 98.3% and rubella from 75.4% to 87.8%.
  • The findings indicate that the vaccination program likely eliminated the rubella infection's average force and prevented around 78 cases of congenital rubella syndrome by 2019, showcasing successful immunization efforts in a developing country context.

  • This study is the first to examine the population-based seroprevalence of chronic hepatitis B and C infections in Lao PDR, providing important data on these infections.
  • A nationwide survey in June 2019 collected blood samples and found a prevalence rate of 4.2% for hepatitis B and 1.6% for hepatitis C.
  • The analysis revealed higher odds of hepatitis B infection among younger individuals, particularly those aged 20-29, and indicated variations based on region and ethnicity, suggesting the need for further confirmation in future research.

Objective: Constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) is a common treatment for upper extremity motor dysfunction after a stroke. However, whether it can effectively improve lower extremity motor function in stroke patients remains controversial. This systematic review comprehensively studies the current evidence and evaluates the effectiveness of CIMT in the treatment of post-stroke lower extremity motor dysfunction.

  • Immunization is crucial for child health in Lao PDR, yet low coverage rates persist, prompting this study to identify factors influencing full immunization in children aged 12 to 35 months.
  • Researchers analyzed data from a nationwide survey, classifying children into "fully immunized" and "partially immunized" groups to assess demographics and health service usage affecting vaccination rates.
  • The findings showed that 67.6% of children were fully immunized, with hospital births significantly linked to higher immunization rates, while gaps in vaccinations primarily involved Hep B, PCV, and MCV doses.

Background: Oral ulcer (OU) is a common oral mucosal disease manifested with obvious pain. In some studies, the efficacy of acupuncture in OU has been confirmed, but systematic reviews and meta-analyses for them are lacking. Our aim is to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of OU.

This was a large-scale multicenter study with two objectives. One was to study the factors influencing pedestrian smartphone use while crossing roads, and the other was to study the effect of combined visual and auditory intervention on smartphone zombies (smombies) at crossroads. This study was conducted in four different Chinese cities.

Objective: Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has become a social problem. Literature suggests that negative life events can cause numerous problematic behaviors and part of them will result in IAD. However, there is a lack of evidence that elucidates the association between negative life events and IAD.

Previous resting-state functional MRI (fMRI) studies found spontaneous neural activity in the brains of Pathological Internet Use (PIU) subjects. However, the findings were inconsistent in studies using different neuroimaging analyses. This meta-analytic study aimed to identify a common pattern of altered brain activity from different studies.

Background: Postpartum urinary incontinence (PPUI) is a common urological condition in women after childbirth. Due to the side effects of surgical and pharmacological therapies, the patients and physicians alike express a strong preference for conservative approaches on PPUI, such as pelvic floor muscle training, biofeedback, electrical stimulation, bladder training, vaginal cones and acupuncture. Application of these conservative approaches should be guided by high quality evidence, yet their comparative effectiveness has not been well documented.

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD) is one of the most common mental disorders in women following childbirth with heightened prevalence across the globe. Both pharmacotherapy and non-pharmacological interventions are effective for PPD. However, due to the concerns about the side effect on the mother and child of pharmacological treatments, most of women with PPD choose non-pharmacological therapies as their first line option.
