Recent experimental and theoretical studies have shown that a La-H system displays remarkable superconducting properties, and it is also possible to improve the superconducting state by introducing other elements into this system. In this study, we systematically investigated the crystal structures and physical properties of an H-S-La system by using first-principles calculations combined with the CALYPSO structure exploration technique. We predicted four stable stoichiometries containing HSLa, HSLa, HSla, and HSLa.

This work develops a sustainable and global strategy to enhance fruit preservation efficacy. The dual-use composite coating or film comprises silk fibroin/cellulose nanocrystals (SF/CNC) with superior ductility through a synergistic plasticizing effect of glycerol and natural aloe-emodin powder (AE) as antimicrobial agents. To confirm our strategy, two common fruit preservation materials (edible surface coating-SCA-CS; packaging film-SCA-PF) and five different fruits (strawberries, bananas, apples, blueberries, and guavas) have been used.

Multiple approaches are used to treat acne scars, but some are expensive, ineffective, and cause complications. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ultra-pulsed CO fractional laser combined with 30% supramolecular salicylic acid in the treatment of acne scars in a prospective split-face control study. Twenty patients with facial symmetrical acne scars were enrolled.

Pressure significantly modifies the microscopic interactions in the condense phase, leading to new patterns of bonding and unconventional chemistry. Using unbiased structure searching techniques combined with first-principles calculations, we demonstrate the reaction of argon with xenon at a pressure as low as 1.1 GPa, producing a novel van der Waals compound XeAr.
