Objectives: To evaluate the protective effect of cystatin (r-Cystatin) in a mouse mode of "two-hit" sepsis.
Methods: Sixty male C57BL/6 mice randomized equally into sham-operated group, protein group, "two-hit" modeling group, and protein intervention group. In the former two groups, the mice received an intraperitoneal injection of 100 μL PBS followed by exposure of the cecum and then by intraperitoneal injection of 100 μL PBS or 25 μg r-Cystatin 30 min later; In the latter two groups, 100 μL PBS containing LPS (5 mg/kg) was injected intraperitoneally 24 h before cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), and 100 μL PBS or 25 μg r-Cystatin were injected 30 min after CLP.

In this study, we prepared Au@PATP@Ag NRs core-shell structures using 4-aminothiophenol (PATP) as an internal standard signal molecule to enhance the stability of the SERS signal. Understanding and utilizing the dynamic changes of electrocatalysts under working conditions are important for advancing the sustainable hydrogen production. Here, we for the first time report that Cr-doping can promote the in situ reconstruction of a self-supported NiN electrocatalyst (Cr-NiN/NF) during oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions (OER and HER), and therefore improve the electrocatalytic water splitting performance. As identified by in situ measurements and theoretical calculations, Cr-doping enhances OH adsorption during OER at anode and thereby boosts the transformation of NiN pre-catalysts to defect-rich nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) active species.

To investigate the potential causal links between depression, sepsis, and mortality risks, while considering confounding factors, we employed a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach.
Methods: In this two-sample Mendelian randomization study, we analyzed data from a large-scale genome-wide association study on depression, involving 807,553 European individuals (246,363 cases, 561,190 controls).
Objective: The main aim of this study was to determine whether the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) could improve the categorization of suspicious breast lesions based on the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS), thereby reducing the number of benign breast lesions referred for biopsy.
Methods: This prospective study, conducted between January 2017 and December 2018, enrolled consenting patients from eight teaching hospitals in China, who had been diagnosed with solid breast lesions classified as BI-RADS 4 using conventional ultrasound. CEUS was performed within 1 wk of diagnosis for reclassification of breast lesions.
