Rapid identification of marine microplastics by laser-induced fluorescence technique based on PCA combined with SVM and KNN algorithm.

The laser-induced fluorescence technique has the advantage of fast and non-destructive detection and can be used to classify types of marine microplastics. However, spectral overlap poses a challenge for qualitative and quantitative analysis by conventional fluorescence spectroscopy. In this paper, a 405 nm excitation laser source was used to irradiate 4 types of microplastic samples with different concentrations, and a total of 1600 sets of fluorescence spectral data were obtained.

Importance and fitness of family medicine milestone project from America to Taiwan.

Background: The six core competencies of ACGME - patient care (PC), medical knowledge (MK), systems-based practice (SBP), practice-based learning and improvement (PBLI), professionalism (PROF), and interpersonal and communication skills (ICS) - represent domains in which physicians must ultimately demonstrate competence. Although the ACGME's six core competencies have been applied in Taiwan with the milestone project, the application of the six core competences in the Family Medicine milestones for residency training have not yet been established.

Methods: We recruited 61 family medicine physicians from 25 hospitals from four major geographic areas for a Delphi round one survey and 72 physicians from 27 hospitals for a Delphi round two survey.

Background: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common childhood neurodevelopmental disorder, affecting between 5% and 7% of school-age children. ADHD is typically characterized by persistent patterns of inattention or hyperactivity-impulsivity, and it is diagnosed on the basis of the criteria outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, through subjective observations and information provided by parents and teachers. Diagnosing ADHD in children is challenging, despite several assessment tools, such as the Swanson, Nolan, and Pelham questionnaire, being widely available.

Thiol-linked hyaluronic acid-mediated encapsulation of RCR-stabilized gold nanoclusters for hyaluronidase sensing and cellular imaging.

Encapsulating peptide-stabilized gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) with thiolated hyaluronic acid (HA-SH) and selectively adding cysteine to the peptide sequence increased their photoluminescence. We found that peptide compositions with cysteine in the middle emitted the most. RCR-stabilized AuNCs can be purified using size-exclusion chromatography to characterize their optical characteristics, chemical composition, and possible structure.

The gaming disorder test and gaming disorder scale for adolescents: translation and validation among Vietnamese young adults.

Background: Previous studies have shown that the Gaming Disorder Test (GDT) and Gaming Disorder Scale for Adolescents (GADIS-A) have promising validity and reliability when assessing symptoms of gaming disorder among young adults. However, validity and reliability properties of the two scales have not been established among a Vietnamese population.

Objective: The present study translated the GDT and GADIS-A into Vietnamese and examined their factor structures, measurement invariance, convergent validity, concurrent validity, and divergent validity among university students.

Internalized weight stigma and psychological distress mediate the association of perceived weight stigma with food addiction among young adults: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Perceived weight stigma (PWS) and internalized weight stigma (IWS) are both associated with psychological distress and food addiction (FA). Using the previously proposed 'cyclic obesity/weight-based stigma' (COBWEBS) model, the present study extended the framework to investigate the mediating effects of IWS and psychological distress in the association between PWS and FA among young adults. Given that individuals who are overweight/have obesity have different vulnerabilities, this population was separately analyzed alongside the total study population.

The LACE index and risk factors of 14-day versus 30-day readmissions in children.

Risk factors for readmissions in children differ from those in adults, yet little is known about whether the LACE index (Length of stay, Acute admission, Charlson comorbidity index, Emergency department visits in the previous 6 months) developed for adults retains its validity when applied to the prediction of readmissions in children or within shorter intervals of time after discharge. In this retrospective cohort analysis of 4256 patients aged ≤18 years hospitalized at one academic medical center in Taiwan in 2019, we first evaluated the performance of a LACE index model and the three other multivariate logistic regression models in their predictions of hospital readmissions in children using the same time interval of 30 days. We then used multinomial logistic regression to analyze the characteristics and risk factors for readmissions that occur in the first 14 days with those that occur between 15 and 30 days after discharge.

A total of 78 participants were categorized into 2 groups using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment Upper Extremity Scale (FMA-UE) and the Motor Activity Log Amount of Use (MAL-AOU).
