The development of new cryoprotectants for cryopreservation of cells has attracted considerable interest. Herein, five calixarene-based CPAs (SC4A, S-S-C4A, S-SO-C4A, SBAC4A, and CAC4A) were developed, and their IRI activity, DIS property and cryoprotective effect were studied. SBAC4A with a sulphobetaine zwitterion and SC4A with sulfo group modification possessed better cryoprotective effects than the other calixarene-based CPAs, especially for SBAC4A with the enhanced cell viabilities of 16.

Phytochemical investigation on the concentrate of Huangjing wine, resulted in the isolation of three new tyrosol derivatives 4-hydroxyphenethyl 2-(R)-hydroxy-3-phenylpropionate (), 4-hydroxyphenethyl(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propionate () and 4-hydroxyphenethyl ethyl succinate (), together with 5 known compounds, ferulic acid (), L-phenyllactic acid (), hydroxytyrosol (), dihydroferulic acid (), cyclo(L-Pro-D-Tyr) (). Their structures were elucidated using spectroscopic analysis and by comparison with the literature data. All compounds displayed antioxidant effect in the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) radical.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the changes in microRNA-130a (miR-130a) and its correlation with cardiotoxicity during epirubicin/cyclophosphamide followed by docetaxel plus trastuzumab (EC-D+T) adjuvant chemotherapy in human epidermal growth factor receptor-2-positive (HER2⁺) breast cancer patients.

Methods: A total of 72 HER2⁺ breast cancer patients who underwent resection and were scheduled to receive EC-D+T adjuvant therapy were consecutively enrolled. The expression of miR-130a and cardiotoxicity (defined as any of the following situations: 1) absolute decline of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥ 10% and LVEF < 53%; 2) heart failure; 3) acute coronary artery syndromes; and 4) fatal arrhythmia) were assessed every 3 months throughout the 15-month EC-D+T treatment.

Phytochemical investigation on the ethanol extract of green walnut husks ( Maxim.) led to the isolation of two previously unknown compounds, including a macrolide compound (13)-8-oxo-(9, 11)-8-oxo-octadeca-9,11-dien-13-olide () and a diarylheptanoid compound 1-(3'-methoxy-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-7-(3″,4″-dimethoxyphenyl)heptan-3-one (), together with 19 known compounds. The structures of these 21 compounds were elucidated by extensive analyses of NMR and HR-MS data, and the basis of spectroscopic analysis.
