The pursuit of methods to enhance the purity of food-sourced bioactive peptides continues to pose significant challenges. This study introduces an innovative approach to enrich antioxidant peptides by using zinc ion coordination to augment the foaming capabilities of oat peptides. The resulting antioxidant peptide fraction (AF) accounted for 18 % of the oat globulin hydrolysates, with a significant increase (22-47 %) in scavenging activity against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), OH, and O radicals.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) induced by cisplatin (DDP), which is accompanied with the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), is a severe side effect during treatment and restricts the application of DDP. In this study, we develop ultrasmall MnO nanozyme (UMON) with tumor microenvironment (TME) responsive ROS scavenging and generating as adjuvant to alleviate DDP induced AKI with improved efficacy. In kidney, UMON with superoxide dismutase and catalase activity acts as ROS scavenger to eliminate ROS generated by DDP, successfully protecting the renal cells/tissue and alleviating AKI during DDP treatment.

Chimera artifacts in nanopore direct RNA sequencing (dRNA-seq) can significantly distort transcriptome analyses, yet their detection and removal remain challenging due to limitations in existing basecalling models. We present DeepChopper, a genomic language model that precisely identifies and removes adapter sequences from base-called dRNA-seq long reads at single-base resolution, operating independently of raw signal or alignment information to effectively eliminate chimeric read artifacts. By removing these artifacts, DeepChopper substantially improves the accuracy of critical downstream analyses, such as transcript annotation and gene fusion detection, thereby enhancing the reliability and utility of nanopore dRNA-seq for transcriptomics research.

This study investigated the impact of varying total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) feed levels along with water temperature decreases on the performance of nitrifying moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) at 1 °C and its recovery at 3 °C. Five MBBR reactors were operated with different TAN concentrations as water temperature decreased from 20 to 3 °C: reactor R1 at 30 mg N/L, reactor R2 at 20 mg N/L, reactor R3 at 15 mg N/L, reactor R4 at 10 mg N/L and reactor R5 at 0 mg N/L.
